One of the most unique events that take place during the Cherry Blossom Festival is the Wiener Dog Race, scheduled for Saturday, March 21st, from 12 to 1 p.m.

Dachshund dogs (aka wiener dog, sausage dog, badger dog) are known for their short legs and long bodies, as well as their love of running and chasing.

50 dachshund dogs will race each other on Cherry Street as a large crowd cheers them on. This family-friendly event is very popular, so show up early if you want to make sure you get a good view of all the action.

The Cherry Blossom Wiener Dog Race, as well as other events taking place in Downtown Macon like the Dock Diving Dogs, Inflatable Musical Chairs Race, and Bed Race are all free to attend.
