Macon Movie Festival 2026 is scheduled to take place Thursday, August 20th, through Sunday, August 23rd, at three different venues located around the city. The annual film festival includes daily film screenings, celebrity guests, special screenings, and workshops, according to the festival's website.

The unofficial start of the festival takes place on Wednesday, August 19th, with a free Georgia Public Broadcast Community Screening of "Georgia Rising: A Rural Health Story," a film that details the "complex struggles of rural healthcare in Georgia," according to them Macon Film Festival. Register to attend this screening at this link.

Thursday's Macon Movie Festival 2026 offerings include a special screening of Adam Khalil and Zack Khalil's "Aanikoobijigan [ancestor/great-grandparent/great-grandchild]," right after a screening of director Jason Salsman's "Defend the Sacred, Preserve the Past," at Theatre Macon.

This year's Macon Movie Festival really kicks into gear on Friday, with screenings for 10 films, most at the Museum of Arts and Sciences and a few at Theatre Macon.

Many of the films being screened on Friday were created to be experienced on a 360-degree screen, making the museum's planetarium ceiling a perfect choice. Something is awe-inspiring about watching a movie on a screen so large it fills your entire field of vision. There will be two special Fulldome Film Festival Showcases at 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
