There are still fun things scheduled to take place this week. Of course, staying safe is important, so people should prepare for dangerous weather conditions expected to arrive with Tropical Storm Debbie, which is predicted to arrive in south Georgia on Monday and move northward. The storm is expected to bring strong winds up to 65 miles per hour and possible flooding to Middle Georgia. Once the storms have passed, be sure to take part in a few of the fun (and often free or inexpensive) events listed below that are taking part in the heart of Georgia.
MONDAY, August 5th
Mini Mondays (Miniature Painting Meetup) at Artspace Macon (6 -8 p.m.)
Artists who like to paint on miniature canvases (and those who want to be one of those artists) will meet up at Artspace Macon on Monday. This is a free event so if you are interested grab some mini canvases and head on over to Artspace Macon.

WEDNESDAY, August 7th
Tykes, Tots, and Teens Consignment Event at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter (10 a.m.)
This event is billed as Middle Georgia’s largest consignment event for clothes for kids and teens. You can get early entry to the sale on Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. for $25 or for $15 on Wednesday at 9 a.m. You can purchase tickets at this link. Free admission to the consignment sale will start at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Spirit Forward 2024 in Downtown Macon (4-11 p.m.)
Spirit Forward will unite skilled bartenders and mixologists at eleven different establishments. The drink artists will be challenged to create a new version of a class cocktail. Spirit Forward will be taking place through August 28th and those who visit participating businesses get a chance to win a $25 gift card from those businesses. Participating businesses this year include Bearfoot Tavern, Circa, Dovetail, Grant’s Lounge, JBA, Jim Shaw’s, Kinjo Kitchen + Cocktails, Miramar, Parish on Cherry, Quill, and Reboot Retrocade.

Family Fun Night at Ted Wright Park in Warner Robins (4-8 p.m.)
Family Fun Night will include live music, food trucks, and activities like face painting and games, as well as a chance to win prizes. The general public is invited to this free event.

Play Streets Macon: Ingleside Meet & Greet at Artspace Macon (5-7 p.m.)
Bike Walk Macon will present another Play Streets Macon, this time along with Ingleside Village businesses, in December. Artspace Macon will be hosting a community meet and greet this Thursday in preparation for turning Ingleside Avenue into a temporary park as traffic will be blocked from driving through the neighborhood of trendy businesses and beloved restaurants. Thursday DJ Night on the Pickleball Courts (5:30-8 p.m.)
Every second and fourth Thursday, DJ Laylo keeps the pickleball players at Rhythm & Rally pumped up with some tunes as they play the hottest new game since, well I guess tennis. Visitors can play for $10, those with a college ID get in for $5, and members get in free.

FRIDAY, August 9th
ROAD TRIP: Fernbank After Dark; Sense-ational Science in Atlanta (7-11 p.m.)
This after-hours event will allow attendees to learn all about the science behind sensations. Ticket holders will also get access to the museum’s new special exhibit, A Mirror Max: Numbers in Nature, as well as their outdoor exhibit, Forest Forms. Mercer Athletics Fan Day at Hawkins Arena at Mercer University (1:30-2:30 p.m.)
Mercer Athletics Fan Day will feature talented Mercer football, volleyball, and soccer athletes signing autographs and meeting with fans. There will also be inflatables and free Kona Ice, as well as giveaways, according to the organizer.

Anthony Rosano and the Conqueroos at Grant’s Lounge (9 p.m.)
Anthony Rosano and the Conqueroos will be playing blues and rock music straight from mountainous Virginia. This band has toured with acts like Bob Seger and has played with ZZ Top, BlackBerry Smoke, and Gov’t Mule. Tickets are $10 online or at the door.

SUNDAY, August 11th
The Mrs. Roper Muumuu Brunch Bingo Extravaganza (11 a.m.-2 p.m.)
This is an event to be somewhat silly and relaxed in a flowing muumuu or a stylish kaftan to be served cocktail specials and enjoy The Monkey’s Paw Tropical Tapas’ newest brunch menu. Bingo winners will receive “Mrs. Roper-inspired prizes”. Mrs. Roper, played by Audra Lindley, was a much-loved character in the sitcom Three’s Company.
