Live Entertainment Spotlight in Middle Georgia this Week

The week is already halfway gone but there are plenty of live entertainment events taking place in the next few days, including thrash metal band Megadeth at the Atrium Health Amphitheater on Friday, BAS at The Hummingbird on Saturday, and a tribute show to Stephanie Mills and Teddy Pendergrass at The Douglas Theatre on Sunday. The following are just some of the ways you can live music and entertainment in the heart of Georgia from August 22nd through August 25th.


THURSDAY, August 22nd

KARAOKE AT JBA WITH FRESH PRODUCE RECORDS (9 p.m.-1:30 a.m.)

Willie D from Fresh Produce Records will be hosting another night of karaoke this Thursday at Downtown Macon’s JBA. 


FRIDAY, August 23rd

LIVE DJ AT FRIDAYS AFTER CLASS (FAC) AT AMICI MACON (3-6 p.m.)

This event is a fun way to celebrate finishing another long week of class and will include a DJ, samples, and giveaways on the rooftop at Amici Macon. FAC is sponsored by Red Bull and is free to attend.

MEGADETH - DESTROY ALL ENEMIES TOUR AT THE ATRIUM HEALTH AMPHITHEATER (6:30 p.m.)

Megadeth is a band that started in the 1980s and was only matched in popularity by three other thrash metal bands, Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer. The band is in on a thirty-three city nationwide tour along with Mudvayne and All That Remains. General admission lawn tickets start at $32 before fees and seats start at $52 currently on ticketmaster.com.

ROAD TRIP: HOT LICKS & RHETORIC (A STEELY DAN TRIBUTE BAND) AT GRIFFIN OPERA HOUSE (8 p.m.)

Hot Licks & Rhetoric is a 9-piece Steely Dan tribute band from Atlanta. This tribute band seeks to capture the sound of the original Steely Dan while performing music from albums like “Aja”. Tickets start at $25 online before fees.

K.P. & THE SIDEWINDERS AT 20’S PUB (9 p.m.-2 a.m.)

Keith Patterson and the other members of K.P. & The Sidewinders will be playing early into Saturday morning at 20’s Pub.

UNDERGROUND SPRINGHOUSE WITH ALEX STONE & FRIENDS (9 p.m.)

Underground Springhouse is a band whose unique sound mixes reggae, country, funk, and rock and roll. They will be performing at the historic Grant’s Lounge on Friday evening. The doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $10 at the door and online (with fees).

THE RASPY LEMONS AT VICE BAR (9:30 p.m.)

The Raspy Lemons will bring their groovy and psychedelic sounds to Vice Bar this Friday night. The band will be performing a mix of original music and covers. There is no cover at Vice Bar.

MAMA STONE AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m.-2 a.m.)

Mama Stone is a progressive rhythm and blues band hailing from Valdosta. They will be playing their first show in Macon at The Hummingbird this Friday night. There will be a $5 cover at the door for this show.



SATURDAY, August 24th

SOUTHBOUND MOJO AND SMOKE TIME IN JEFFERSONVILLE (7 p.m.)

Southbound Mojo is a rock band that plays the hits. This show is sponsored by Jail Creek Winery.

THE HORDE FESTIVAL REVIVAL WITH THE CORE AT SOCIETY GARDEN (7:30-10 p.m.)

The Core is a band that seeks to recreate the energy of the HORDE Festivals of the 90s, which feature music from bands like Widespread Panic, The Black Crowes, The Allman Brothers Band, and many others. Tickets cost $12.51 on eventbrite.com or $10 at the gate.

STACEY BLANTON AND HUNG JURY AT WILD WING CAFE MACON’S 16TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY (7:30 p.m.)

There will be food and drink specials all night for this 16th-anniversary party at Wild Wing Cafe with music from Stacey Blanton and Hung Jury.

ALAMO AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)

Alamo is a southern rock band that is multigenerational. Started in Memphis, Tennessee back in early 1970, Alamo will be performing at Grant’s Lounge on Saturday night. Tickets to see Alamo in concert cost $10 at the door and $10 plus fees online.

BAS AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m.-2 a.m.)

The genre-bending, Middle Georgia band BAS will be playing a show at The Hummingbird early in Sunday morning this week. As usual, The Hummingbird will have a very reasonable $5 cover for this show.

YOUNG DRO AT THE OG BALL BIRTHDAY BASH AT THE MACON ARTS CENTER (10 p.m.-2 a.m.)

This show is for adults (21 and older) and will feature Young Dro and DJ Ric Flare. Tickets start at $25 on eventbrite.com.

LITTLE WING EXPERIENCE AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m.-2 a.m.)

Little Wing is a Jimmy Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute band that will be playing at North Macon’s Billy’s Clubhouse late on Saturday night. There is never a cover charge at Billy’s.


SUNDAY, August 25th

TRIBUTE SHOW EXPERIENCE AT THE DOUGLAS THEATRE (2-5 p.m.)

This tribute show will celebrate the music of artists Stephanie Mills, who you may remember for the Broadway show “Dorothy” or her string of number one rhythm and blues hits in the 80s, and Teddy Pendergrass, the soul and rhythm and blues singer and songwriter. General admission tickets to the Tribute Show Experience cost $25 on rebelity.com.
