This week, there are plenty of fun things to do, with family-friendly holiday events, public ice skating at the Macon Coliseum, and the annual Macon Pops Christmas Spectacular. The following are just a few of the fun and often free things to do this week in Middle Georgia.


TUESDAY, November 26th

Bob and Blender’s Campfire Jams at Vice Bar (8-11 p.m.)

Bob and Blender will host another Campfire Jam on Tuesday. This event takes place every Tuesday at Vice Bar and invites Middle Georgia musicians to bring their instruments and perform with other musically inclined musicians. There is no charge for Campfire Jam.

ROAD TRIP: Spalding Brite: Lite the Nite (5:30 p.m.)

Griffin will be lighting up its festive Christmas tree on Tuesday evening at an event that will include local food trucks, live entertainment, and activities.

WEDNESDAY, November 27th

Public Ice Skating at the Macon Coliseum (6 p.m.)

Public Ice Skating returns to the Macon Centreplex, where the public can skate for one hour on the ice rink that is used by Macon’s hockey team, the Macon Mayhem. Each one-hour session of skating costs $7 on ticketmaster.com.

Early Bird Special featuring Britton Seprish and Friends at The Hummingbird (6 p.m.)

The annual Early Bird Special returns to The Bird on Wednesday. This event includes a potluck meal supplied by attendees, with a dinner that starts at 6 p.m. and groovy music from Britton Seprish and Friends at 8 p.m.

BASS in the Bell Tower at The Society Garden (7-10 p.m.)

BASS in the Bell Tower is a new weekly event for enjoyers of electronic dance music (EDM) that will take place every Wednesday at The Society Garden. This weekly all-ages DJ event will be hosted by MUSH and Kvizen, and even furry friends (on leashes) are welcome.

THURSDAY, November 28th

THANKSGIVING DAY

Thanksgiving Feast at Hotel Forty Five (10 a.m.-6 p.m.)

Hotel Forty Five will celebrate Thanksgiving Day at its restaurant Loom with food prepared by James Beard nominee Chef Jayson Reynolds. The meal will feature locally sourced ingredients and traditional favorites with a Southern twist, according to Loom. Prices for the Thanksgiving Feast are $52 per person or $28 for children (6 to 12 years old), while children 5 and under eat for free. FRIDAY, November 29th

Grand Opening of Choose and Cut Christmas Trees and Gift Shop at Skipper Family Farms (9 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Skipper Family Farms will have a Grand Opening of its Christmas trees and gift shop on Friday. There will be coffee, hot cocoa, cider, S’mores, and fresh baked goods for sale, along with fresh baked goods as well as hay rides, according to the farm.

Macon Pops Christmas Spectacular in Downtown Macon (6 p.m.)

The Macon Pops Christmas Spectacular will feature a live performance of festive music from the Macon Pops. The orchestra will perform the music on the stage on First and Poplar Streets in Downtown Macon, which will then be played nightly at the Macon Christmas Lights Spectacular. The Christmas Lights Spectacular includes over one million synchronized, twinkling lights with a light show on the hour every night from 6 to 11 p.m. through January 2, 2025.

ROAD TRIP: Back N Black - The AC/DC Experience at Griffin Opera House (8 p.m.)

Back-N-Black is an AC/DC tribute band that will perform music from four decades of music from the iconic rock band. Back N Black was founded by vocalist David Jaynes in 2007 after he toured internationally with the popular AC/DC tribute band Hells Bells as well as the Black Jacket Symphony. Jackson Tanner Trio at Grant’s Lounge (9 p.m.)

The Jackson Tanner Trio, which features the talented Bert Mims, Jungle Jersey Joe, and Jackson Tanner, returns to the historic stage at Grant's Lounge on Friday night. The doors open at 8 p.m., and the music starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance online at this link or at the door.

Mama Stone at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)

Mama Stone is a progressive rhythm and blues band from Valdosta that will be performing at The Hummingbird Stage & Taproom on Friday. The band’s newest single is titled “Echo Chambers”. There will be a cover charge of $5.00 at the door for this show.

Little Wing Experience at Billy’s Clubhouse (10 p.m.-2 a.m.)

The band Little Wing Experience plays the iconic hits of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. They will be returning to Billy’s Clubhouse on Friday night, which never has a cover charge.

SATURDAY, November 30th

Shop Small Saturday in Downtown Macon (9 a.m.-6 p.m.)

This Saturday is Shop Small Saturday, an event that encourages people to support small businesses nationwide. Many Downtown Macon businesses will be having Shopping Power Hours from 9 a.m. to 6 m., with several downtown businesses assigned to each hour. During their assigned hour, the businesses will offer discounts to sweeten your shopping experience.  From 9 to 10 a.m., shoppers can get 25% off at The Bohemian Den, 20% off at MD Exchange (who will also be having a penny sale throughout the day), and Taste and See Coffee Shop & Gallery will offer free drip coffee with the purchase of a retail coffee bag or gift card purchase of $10 or more. Main Street Gray Hometown Christmas Market will include more than one hundred vendors, food trucks, and photo opportunities with Santa. Gray will also light its Christmas tree at 6 p.m. after the conclusion of this family-friendly, free event.

ROAD TRIP: Atlanta Christkindl Market (11 a.m.-9 p.m.)

The Atlanta Christkindl Market is a unique event that combines traditional German festivities with Christmas in the South. Vendors will be selling everything from sweet treats to one-of-a-kind artworks. The Atlanta Christkindl Market will take place in two locations, Galleria in the Park and the Buckhead Village District (which is the address listed below), open every day of the week (3 to 8 p.m. Mondays - Thursdays) through Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24th.

Artspace Macon Shop Small Saturday Sale (12-6 p.m.)

Twinkling Lights and Carriage Nights at Hummingbird Farms in Culloden (4-9 p.m.)

Hummingbird Farms will host Twinkling Lights and Carriage Nights on Saturday. The family-friendly event will include a maze, carriage rides, arts and crafts vendors, and food. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for kids 3 and older, with kids 2 and under receiving free entry.

Gabriel Iglesias at the Macon Coliseum (8 p.m.)

Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias is a standup comedian and actor who has had numerous comedy specials for Comedy Central and Netflix, as well as parts in movies like Magic Mike (2012) and Space Jam: A New Legacy. He will bring the laughs to the Macon Coliseum on Saturday night. In 2018, Iglesias was said to be one of the top 10 paid comedians in the world. Tickets to see Gabriel Iglesias perform at the Macon Coliseum currently start at $39.50 on ticketmaster.com

The Last Waltz Experience at Grant’s Lounge (8 p.m.)

North Carolina’s Josh Daniel and some of his talented friends will pay tribute to the Canadian-American rock group The Band's concert "Last Waltz," which took place on Thanksgiving in 1976. Daniel has been presenting performances of the "Last Waltz" since 2011. Attendees will hear hits from artists like Neil Young, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, and more. Tickets to Josh Daniels's Last Waltz Experience costs $15.00 online at this link or at the door.

Hayden Coffman at The Capitol Theatre (8 p.m.) 

Hayden Coffman is a rising country music singer and songwriter from Knoxville, Tennessee. In 2023, Hayden's music broke into the top 3 on Spotify and the top 5 on YouTube. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets to see Hayden Coffman in concert cost $15.

Comedy Show at Buffington’s in Milledgeville (9 p.m.)

Laughter is the best medicine, as comedian Milton Berle once said, and Buffington will be serving hot food and healing comedy on Saturday evening. There is no cover charge for this comedy show.

Rae and the Ragdolls at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)

Rae & the Ragdolls is a rock band from Atlanta that will be performing for the first time at The Hummingbird this Saturday. There will be a $5.00 cover charge at the door for this show.
