This week in the heart of Georgia, there will be special musical events, art workshops, and many family-friendly festive celebrations. On Tuesday, there will also be an event to remember and honor Josh Rogers of NewTown Macon, who was well known for the loving encouragement of others and who helped spearhead so many projects that have positively touched the lives of many people in Macon. The following are just a few of the fun things to do this week in Macon and greater Middle Georgia.


TUESDAY, December 17th

A Toast to Josh at JBA (5-7 p.m.)

The impact of Josh Rogers can be seen all around Downtown Macon. His care and encouragement also touched the hearts of many Middle Georgia residents. NewTown Macon invites the public to celebrate Rogers’s amazing legacy at A Toast to Josh on Tuesday night.

Ink & Color: Retro Ornament Illustration Workshop at Artspace Macon (6-8 p.m.)

Artist Casie Trace will lead an ornament workshop at Artspace Macon on Tuesday night, where participants will create “retro-inspired” ornaments while learning about basic illustration steps and the “differences between gouache, India ink, and watercolor.” Tickets to this unique workshop cost $30 on Artspace Macon’s website.

Walk ’n’ Talk: Hype Hounds Holiday Stroll with Hailie Williams in Third Street Park (6-7:30 p.m.)

Bike Walk Macon will hold another Walk ’n’ Talk group walk this Tuesday. Hailie Williams will lead the walk this month with dog owners and their furry best friends. Walk ’n’ Talk is a monthly, one-hour group walk that takes place on the third Tuesday of each month and is free and open to the public.

WEDNESDAY, December 18th

Entrepreneur’s Happy Hour at Just Tap’d - Macon (5-6:30 p.m.)

Another Entrepreneur’s Happy Hour is taking place on Wednesday. These events bring together business owners to commiserate over cold drinks and good conversations. This event is free to attend.

Max Noah Singers Homecoming Tour Concert at First Presbyterian Church of Milledgeville (7:30 p.m.)

The Georgia College & State University Max Noah Singers are performing a homecoming concert this Wednesday evening. All proceeds from the concert will benefit music scholarships or the Georgia College Department of Music through the GCSU Foundation, Inc., and a $5 donation is encouraged.

THURSDAY, December 19th

PWE Presents: Winter Warfare at The Society Garden (6:30 p.m.)

Thursday Night Ladies Night at Grant’s Lounge (7-11 p.m.)

FRIDAY, December 20th

Brett Bartschi at Buffington’s in Milledgeville (6-9 p.m.)

Brett Bartschi is a singer and songwriter from Wrens, Georgia. Bartschi will be performing country music at Buffington's on Friday evening. There is no cover for this show.

Evan Bentzel at The Society Garden (8-10 p.m.)

Evan Bentzel is known by many in Middle Georgia as part of the Macon Music Revue as well as other popular bands like The Restless Natives and Sweet Diesel. Bentzel will perform by himself this Friday at The Society Garden.

Holiday Happy Time 6 with Tier Blue, Honeyknife, and Ash Tuesday at The Capitol Theatre (8 p.m.)

The Tier Blue Holiday show returns this Friday to The Capitol Theatre. This rock concert will feature music from Tier Blue as well as special guests Honeyknife and Ash Wednesday. The doors will open at 7:30 p.m., and the music starts at 8 p.m. Tickets to Holiday Happy Time 6 cost $10 online and $15 at the door.

Andrew Scotchie at Grant’s Lounge (9 p.m.)

Andrew Scotchie is a musician from Asheville, North Carolina, whose music combines rock n roll, blues, and Americana. Scotchie released his latest album, Love is Enough, in 2023. The doors open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or at the door.

Ground Strum at 20’s Pub (9 p.m.-2 a.m.)

Middle Georgia’s Ground Strum will perform at 20’s Pub on Friday into the early morning hours. The band will play covers of classic rock, 90s rock, and country. There is no cover charge for this show.

8th Anniversary Karaoke at Reboot Retrocade & Bar (9 p.m.)

Macon’s Reboot Retrocade & Bar is celebrating its 8th anniversary this Friday and will be celebrating with all of its weekly drink specials as well as an evening of Karaoke.

12Eleven at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)

12Eleven is a pop group from Florida whose music blends saxophone and guitar along with “soulful vocals and heavy grooves.” Tickets to see 12Eleven in concert will cost $5 at the door.

First Annual Xmas Pajama Bash Presented by OG Ball at the Macon Arts Center (10 p.m.)

Travis Porter is a hip-hop trio from Atlanta who will be performing at the First Annual Xmas Pajama Bash. DJ Slimm 3 will provide the music for this 21 and up show. Tickets for the First Annual Christmas Pajama Bash start at $30 on eventbrite.com.

Rachel Forehand at Vice Bar (10 p.m.)

Rachel Forehand is a southern rock singer and songwriter from Macon. Forehand can often be found performing at venues not only in Macon and Middle Georgia but also in Newnan and Eatonton. There is no cover charge at Vice Bar.

SATURDAY, December 21st

Christmas on Broadway with the Bag Lady at The Douglass Theatre (1,5 p.m.)

Jeneen Hammond’s “Christmas on Broadway with the Bag Lady” is a theatrical production about a director who takes over the directing of a small-town Christmas show with some very ambitious plans. There will be two showings, and the 1 p.m. show will include arts and crafts and a special meet and greet with Jeneen Hammond. Family Day in the Christmas Bar at The Society Garden (2-3:30 p.m.)

The Society Garden will host Family Day in the Christmas Bar, a family-friendly event where guests will get a Christmas cookie decorating box/charcuterie box. The event will take place in the venue's creative Christmas cocktail lounge, which is said to even include snow inside. One ticket is good for reserved seating for two guests and one Christmas cookie decorating box/charcuterie box, which includes two cut-out sugar cookies and frosting/decorating supplies, assorted fruit, and other sweet treats. "Something in the Water" Book Signing at Barnes & Noble (2-4 p.m.)

Ben Wynne will be signing his book "Something in the Water: A History of Music in Macon, Georgia 1823-1980" at Barnes & Noble on Saturday. Wynne is a historian and professor of history at the University of North Georgia and the author of several works about the American South.

Christmas with John Berry at The Piedmont Grand Opera House (7:30-9:30 p.m.)

John Berry's annual Christmas concert will take place at The Piedmont Grand Opera House on Saturday. Berry's concerts are a family tradition for many Middle Georgia families. Audience members will hear Berry sing some of his classic hits, such as “Your Love Amazes Me” and “Standing On The Edge Of Goodbye,” along with Christmas classics like "Oh Holy Night." Tickets to see John Berry in concert cost $43 on tixr.com.

Chris Hicks and Friends at The Society Garden (8 p.m.)

Chris Hicks and Friends will perform at The Society Garden on Saturday evening. Hicks is the lead guitar player, vocalist, and songwriter for the Marshall Tucker Band. Expect cheery Christmas music and some impressive guitar playing at this festive event.

A Very Jerry Christmas VI at Grant’s Lounge (8 p.m.)

A Very Jerry Christmas VI will feature music from Direwoof and some talented friends. Direwoof is a band that pays tribute to the music of the Grateful Dead. There will be three sets of music at this show, and doors open at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or at the door.

The Soul Cartel Band at Serenity Entertainment Complex (8 p.m.)

The Soul Cartel has been performing contemporary versions of classic rhythm and blues since 2010. DJ AD will also perform at this show. Tickets to see The Soul Cartel Band perform live start at $10 on Serenity Entertainment’s website.

The Jingle Ball: XMAS Drag Show at Friends on the HILL in Warner Robins (9 p.m.-12 a.m.)

Friends on the HILL will present its 3rd annual Jingle Ball Drag Show on Saturday night. The  Tribe's Drucilla Vidalle, Eddie Bull, and Sierra Prosecco will provide the entertainment. There is no cover charge at Friends on the HILL.

Latin Night at Splinters Axe House and Tavern in Warner Robins (9 p.m.)

Splinters Axe House and Tavern will host Latin Night with DJ Kiké on Saturday. Latin Night is for attendees 21 and older, and there will be a cover charge of $5 for women and $10 for men.

Talk Nerdy to Me is hosting the 5th Annual The Karaoke Before Christmas to The Hummingbird this Saturday night. This event will also be Bar Crawl USA's “Ugly Sweater Bar Crawl” official After Party, and those who participated in the bar crawl can take part in an ugly sweater contest.

SUNDAY, December 23rd

Dark Chocolate Nutcracker at The Douglass Theatre (3:30 p.m.)

"Dark Chocolate Nutcracker" is a play by Jane Johnson that offers a unique take on the classic "The Nutcracker." The play mixes ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary dance styles uniquely and entertainingly, according to The Douglas Theatre. Tickets for the Dark Chocolate Nutcracker start at $25 online.
