Start this year on a good foot with several inspiring, educational, and entertaining events scheduled for this week. Storytellers Macon brings another evening of true tales from other Middle Georgia residents, this month focusing on "Taking Out the Trash" on Tuesday. This week you can hear legendary musicians, including Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons (Macon) and Dailey & Vincent (Hawkinsville). The following are just a few of the adventures scheduled for this week in the heart of Georgia.


TUESDAY, January 14th

Storytellers Macon Presents “Taking Out the Trash” at Grant’s Lounge (6:30-8:30 p.m.)

Prepare to be inspired, moved, or amused as Storytellers Macon returns to Grant's Lounge Tuesday with an evening of true tales around the theme “Taking Out the Trash.” Storytellers will tell true 5-five-minute stories about subjects like cleaning up literal trash, changing bad habits, letting go of false beliefs, and more. The featured storyteller on Tuesday will be Moria Glennon, Administrative Coordinator at Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative. Storytellers from the crowd can sign up before the event (which is encouraged) or at the event. Social time starts at 6:30 p.m. with stories starting at 7:00 p.m. Attendees are cautioned about bringing minors to this free Storytellers Macon event as the stories are uncensored.

Live, Laugh, Love Unplugged at PUB 96 in Bonaire (8 p.m.)

Actor, singer, musician, and comedian Peter Dante, who is best known for starring in several Adam Sandler films (including Water Boy, Grown Ups, and Grandma’s Boy), Scotty Austin of Saving Abel, Vinnie Dombroski of Sponge, and local act Werewolves On Wheels will present a night of rock music, stories, a question and answer session, and more. WEDNESDAY, January 15th

MUSIC: BASS in the Bell Tower at The Society Garden (7-10 p.m.)

BASS in the Bell Tower returns to The Society Garden on Wednesday. This event is a family-friendly, weekly event that takes place every Wednesday at The Society Garden hosted by DJs MUSH and Kvizen. Attendees will get a chance to perform for the crowds at The Society Garden when the resident DJs offer open decks for the brave. There is no cover charge for the all-ages BASS in the Bell Tower.

THURSDAY, January 16th

Ribbon Cutting at Mossy Creek Natural in Downtown Macon (11 a.m.)

The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce invites the community to celebrate the grand opening of Mossy Creek Natural in Downtown Macon on Thursday and welcome another shop-worthy addition to Cherry Street. Mossy Creek Natural offers a collection of handmade soaps, bath products, cozy apparel, thoughtful gifts, and coffee table worthy books. Be part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. and explore the store's carefully curated items afterward for their Grand Opening.

FRIDAY, January 17th

Mercer Student Day at Barks N Brews (4 p.m.)

Stressed Mercer University students can enjoy a relaxing day at Barks N Brews with free entry by just flashing their student ID on Friday. This pet-friendly venue is the perfect spot to unwind with furry friends and fellow students and friends. Barks N Brews offers human beverages such as coffee and craft beer and all-you-can-drink water for your furry family members.

GLOWga at the Perry Events Center (6-8 p.m.)

GLOWga is a fusion of yoga, high-energy HIIT, and a vibrant glow-in-the-dark atmosphere presented by the City of Perry. With blacklights, body paint, glow sticks, and strobe lights setting the stage, this all-ages event is a unique, free experience to share with friends or family. Art Night: DIY Dolly at Artspace Macon (6:30 p.m.)

Dolly Parton inspires many and Artspace Macon invites creatives to unleash their inner artist with a mixed-media workshop inspired by the "Queen of Country Music". This event encourages participants to express themselves through the creation of Dolly-inspired collages. DIY Dolly costs $25 per person which includes a 8x8 or 8x10 canvas. No prior art experience is required for this family-friendly event.

MUSIC: Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons at Macon City Auditorium (7:30 p.m.)

Legendary pop sensations Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons are bringing their “The Last Encores” tour to Macon on Friday. Relive the hits that defined a generation, from "Sherry" to "Can’t Take My Eyes Off You," in a  live performance. Grab your tickets early to experience this musical journey through time.

MUSIC: Penelope Road at Grant’s Lounge (9 p.m.)

Penelope Road is a five-piece band who prefer for its music to be described as "stanky, funky junk" and whose recent TikTok announcing the song Out Tonight has been viewed over 2 million times. SATURDAY, January 18th

Run for Aviation Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 5K in Warner Robins (7 a.m.-2 p.m.)

Lace up your running shoes for the 29th Annual Museum of Aviation Foundation race. Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or a casual 5K enthusiast, this Boston Marathon-qualifier event offers a unique course through Robins Air Force Base. The Marathon for Hand Cyclists and Para Athletes starts at 7:50 a.m. with other marathoners starting at 8 a.m. (with an 8-hour cutoff). The half marathon starts at 8:15 a.m. and the 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. This year a media company affiliated with Lionsgate has partnered with the race to promote the upcoming thriller "Flight Risk" starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Mel Gibson. With awards, medals, and a festive atmosphere, this event is a great way to combine fitness and fun while supporting a worthy cause.
