This week in the heart of Georgia people will learn ways to use public transportation in Macon during a special event from Bike Walk Macon, hear lots of live music, and enjoy priceless moments with family and friends during Memorial Day celebrations. The following are just a few of the ways to have memorable adventures from May 26th through June 1st.


MONDAY, May 26th

MEMORIAL DAY - Today is a day the country honors U.S. military members who have died in service. Thank you to all who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

Memorial Day Service at Magnolia Park Cemeteries and Mausoleums (11 a.m.)

Fallen soldiers will be honored during a free Memorial Day Service on Monday. This Memorial Day event is open to the public.

TUESDAY, May 27th

Government Tuesdays at Hotel Forty Five’s Loom Comfort Kitchen & Cocktails (5-9 p.m.)

Every Tuesday, Government employees with an employee ID receive 15% off of all food and beverages at Loom Comfort Kitchen & Cocktails. This isn’t necessarily an event that will excite anyone else, but for Government employees it could save a couple of bucks.

WEDNESDAY, May 28th

Wellness Yoga Stretch Wednesday at Holistic Health Resources (5-5:45 p.m.)

Spark Macon will host another Entrepreneur Night for small businesses in Macon-Bibb County this Wednesday. These monthly events take place at different locations around the city and this month will take place at Clark & Clark Law Group, LLC, a general practice law firm specializing in areas of Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, and Estate Planning and Administration.

Ribbon Cutting at Macon Rehabilitation & Healthcare (11 a.m.)

You can celebrate along with the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce the opening of Macon Rehabilitation & Healthcare this Thursday morning. This new business will offer skilled nursing services, physical rehab, wound and respiratory care, and more.

FRIDAY, May 30th

Macon Car Free Day from Bike Walk Macon

Join Bike Walk Macon in the movement to go car free in Macon on Friday by carpooling, taking the bus, biking, or working from home this Friday for Macon Car Free Day. Participants in Macon Car Free Day will meet at Macon Bagels from 8 to 9 a.m. for a breakfast sandwich and cup of joe. Car Free Day pledgers will receive a free hot or iced coffee from Macon Bagels. Then from 11:40 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., you can jump on a bus for free to meet at the Transfer Station at 200 Cherry Street to ride with other Car Free Day pledgers to Margaritas in Mercer Village. Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority (MTA) will provide free bus rides to all passengers from a bus stop or the Transfer Center on Free Fare Day. Finally, the celebration of this eco-friendly day will take place at Churchill’s on Cherry from 5 to 7 p.m. Take the pledge to take part in Macon Car Free Day and help reduce traffic, lower emissions, improve air quality, and save money online at this link.

Fall Line Brewing Co.’s Warped Pour Sour Punchcard Series Weekly Taproom Release (12-1 p.m.)

Fall Line Brewing Co. has a clever take on the Warped Tour traveling rock musical festival that is all about the release of exclusive in house sour brews. The brewery will release one of eight sour beers through July 18th and attendees can win a limited edition Fall Line Warped Pour shirt by completing all 8 punches on a Warped Pour release punchcard.

SATURDAY, May 31st

Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge Walk (9 a.m.)

A local forester will lead this free walk from the Fringed Campion Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society on Saturday morning. Participants will learn about prescribed burns and how they effect the habitat. The organizers of this event remind participants to dress appropriately for the weather, sun, and bugs and meet in the Alison Lake parking lot.

Saturday Pet Patio at Hotel Forty Five (9 a.m.)

Saturday Pet Patio is a new weekly event that combines dogs and tasty food with adoptable dogs as well as chef-crafted dog bowls. Attendees will have a chance to win a $25 gift card with any adoption as well as a chance to support the cause of non-profit Paws in Middle Georgia.

“Why Place Matters” with Janisse Ray at the Historic Macon Foundation (10 a.m.)
