There will be events celebrating art, food, and music taking place in cities across Middle Georgia this week. There will also be celebrations of Juneteenth, including a parade in Downtown Macon on Sunday, as well as celebrations of Pride Month. The following are just a few of the unique things to do the week of June 16th through June 22nd.
MONDAY, June 16th
Glass Days: Weekday Glassblowing Experiences at stARTup Studios (11:30-5 p.m.)
stARTup Studios is offering unique 30-minute glassblowing classes where you can make everything from a bird to a vase. A professional glassblowing instructor will be on hand to make sure you don’t hurt yourself and that your glass artwork is a real work of art. The weekday glassblowing experiences cost $50 to reserve and prices for projects range from $50 and up.

TUESDAY, June 17th
The Cookbook Club - Summer Picnic Edition at Bear’s Books (6 p.m.)
Bear’s Books and MD Exchange have collaborated to bring the Cookbook Club to Middle Georgia. This event is for those who love books, cooking, food, and hosting and includes themed food and an informational session on table setting for a summer picnic, according to Bear’s Books. Tickets for the event start at $40 online, while tickets for the event and the “VeryVera Cookbook” cost $75, and tickets for the “VeryVera Cookbook” and “VeryVera Occasions” cost $100.

HEALTHY LIVING: Walk ’n’ Talk: Men’s Health Stroll with F3 Macon (6-7:30 p.m.)
Bike Walk Macon is presenting another Walk ’n’ Talk on Tuesday with the theme of Men’s Health. Fitness group F3 Macon will be on hand as the group strolls around Tattnall Square Park and stops for bodyweight exercises and discussion during this one-hour-long event. Walk ’n” Talks take place on the third Tuesday of each month. This free event is open to everyone.

FINE DINING: June Italian Wine Pairing Dinner at Braddock’s Cask & Table (6:30 p.m.)
Braddock’s Cask & Table is offering a 5-course dinner with Italian wine pairing on Tuesday. Guests will eat dishes such as Trofie al Pesto with Shrimp with Cala Civetta Trebbiano Toscana and finish it all off with a sweet Chocolate Cannoli with Doppio Passo Primitivo. Tickets for the June Italian Wine Paring Dinner at Braddock’s Cask & Table cost $105 (plus tax and gratuity).

WEDNESDAY, June 18th
Trivia Night at Longleaf Distillery (7 p.m.)
Longleaf Distillery is having a night of trivia on Wednesday. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams at this free trivia event.

THURSDAY, June 19th
Juneteenth - The federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
Juneteenth Freedom Festival at North Houston Sports Complex (3 p.m.)
The annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival from Obsidian Hope, and co-hosted by the City of Warner Robins and Visit Warner Robins Georgia, will include live music, local artist entertainment, and activities for kids. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

SPORTS: 70’s Retro Beach Party on the Pickleball Courts (5:30 p.m.)
Play Rhythm & Rally will be hosting a 70s Retro Beach Pickleball DJ night on Thursday. This unique pickleball event will include a DJ playing hits from the 70s and players dressed in beachwear and other fashions from the era. Reservations cost $10 online at this link.

SPORTS: Macon Bacon Bark in the Park - Macon Bacon vs. Lexington Co. Blowfish (7 p.m.)
Take your dog out for a game of baseball on Thursday as the Macon Bacon face off against the Lexington Co. Blowfish during Bark in the Park night. Expect a good game of baseball plus dogs (and dog treats and pup cups for their enjoyment). If you aren’t able to make this game, the Macon Bacon will play the Catawba Valley Stars during Decades Night/Jackie Robinson Night on Friday as well. FRIDAY, June 20th
ART: The Rainbow Show Opening Reception at Artspace Macon (4-7 p.m.)
Artspace Macon and 478 Creatives will host the opening reception of The Rainbow Show which will contain artwork from artists and allies that is monochromatic (composed of one color) to celebrate the spirit of Pride month. 10% of the sales from this event will benefit a future community art project from Macon Pride.

Summer Solstice Celebration at The Florrest (7-10 p.m.)
The Florrest is holding a Summer Solstice Celebration with a sound bath on Friday night. The Florrest is a unique 153-acre forest retreat with large, comfortable geodesic domes where corporations and individuals can “rest, awaken, and thrive.” Tickets can be purchased at this link.

MUSIC: An Evening with Vince Gill at the Macon City Auditorium (7:30 p.m.)
Country singer and songwriter Vince Gill will be performing at the Macon City Auditorium this Friday. Some might know Gill from his days at the lead singer of Pure Prarie League while many others might recognize his popular songs from the 90s like “I Still Believe in You” and “Don’t Let Our Love Start Slippin’ Away.” Tickets to see Vince Gill currently start at $115.10 on ticketmaster.com.

MUSIC: Ramble On (Led Zeppelin Tribute) at the Griffin Opera House (8 p.m.)
Ramble On will be playing the many hits of Led Zeppelin at the Griffin Opera House Friday evening. This tribute band hails from central Florida and they have previously played the music of bands like the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and Pink Floyd. Tickets currently start at $30 online at this link.

MUSIC: Great White Lion Snake at The Capitol Theatre (8-11 p.m.)
The band Great White Lion Snake will be playing 80’s hair metal music at The Capitol Theatre on Friday. Pride Drag Bingo at Reboot Retrocade & Bar (8:30-11 p.m.)
This 18 and up event will include host Yutoya Avazé Leon and co-host Pynk Univers and Diamond X for an evening of bingo with prizes, a drag show, and drink specials. There will be no cover for patrons 21 and older.

ART: Prints + Poses: A Solstice Workshop at Tanglewood Art Studios (9-11 a.m.)
Tanglewood Art Studios and Mama Hawk Draws will present a Solstice Workshop where guests will create a “sun-printed cyanotype artwork” as well as a “sun-centered yoga practice led by Jenni Sadler”. Gray’s ice cream shop Cone Crazy will present a Summer Kickoff Bash all day on Saturday. Diners can start the day off with ice cream with Belgain Waffle Sundaes, Cinnamon Roll Ice Cream, and more. Wear Hawaiian clothes like colorful shirts or flip flops for a 10% discount, according to Cone Crazy.

Bird Day at the Museum of Arts and Sciences (10 a.m.-4 p.m.)
Learn more about birds and participate in a meet and greet with the Georgia Falconry Association at the Museum of Arts and Science’s Bird Day on Saturday. MUSIC: Otis Music Camp Grand Finale Performance at The Grand Opera House (7 p.m.)
The latest Otis Music Camp members will perform their Grand Finale Performance at The Grand Opera House on Saturday. The campers will perform original music that was written, arranged, and performed for by the campers. There will be a $10 suggested donation at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Reserve your seats by contacting the Otis Redding Center for the Arts.

MUSIC: Kristina Murray and The Pink Stones at Grant’s Loune (9 p.m.)
Cosmic country/Americana artist Kristina Murray will perform at Grant’s Lounge on Saturday. Murray recently released her latest album “Little Blue” and she will be playing music from the album on the stage at Grant’s. The band The Pink Stones, whose sound mixes gospel, dub, and psychedelia, will be opening for Murray. Tickets for this show will cost $10 at the door.

Artspace Macon will host a Creative Wellness Day on Sunday. This The 3rd annual Juneteenth Parade will take place this Sunday. The theme for the parade this year is “Homecoming” and will celebrate the “vibrant culture, pride, and traditions of HBCUs.” This family-friendly event is free to attend.
