Middle Georgia is in for a sweltering stretch of weather this week, with temperatures soaring well into the upper 90s and heat index values making it feel even hotter, according to the National Weather Service. While most days start off sunny and dry, isolated afternoon thunderstorms will begin popping up midweek and increase in frequency through the weekend.
MONDAY, June 23rd
Expect sunny skies and intense heat, with a high near 96°F and heat index values as high as 103°F. Light east breeze around 5 mph offers little relief.

TUESDAY, June 24th
The hottest day of the week: sunny with a high near 99°F and heat index values up to 107°F. Heat safety precautions are a must. Winds stay calm throughout the day.
