The first week of July is bringing hot and muggy conditions to Middle Georgia, along with a daily chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms, according to the weather forecast from the National Weather Service. Heat index values will hover near or above 100 degrees early in the week, so staying hydrated and finding shade during peak afternoon hours is key. While the chance of rain dips toward the end of the week, spotty holiday storms are still a possibility for the Fourth of July weekend.
Monday
Expect patchy fog early between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., followed by mostly sunny skies. There’s a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Highs near 90°F, with heat index values as high as 101°F. Winds will stay light, shifting to the southwest in the afternoon.
Monday Night
Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 8 p.m., with a 60% chance of rain. Skies will become partly cloudy overnight, and temperatures will dip to around 71°F. A light south wind will continue.
Tuesday
Thunderstorms become more widespread with an 80% chance of rain throughout the day. Expect highs near 87°F with a heat index as high as 97°F. Storms are most likely in the late afternoon and evening hours.

Rain and thunderstorms continue through the early morning hours, tapering off after 2 a.m. Low near 71°F under partly cloudy skies. Winds will be calm.

Another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms is possible, mainly after 11 a.m. It’ll be partly sunny with a high near 89°F. Rain chance is 50%.
