This week in Middle Georgia, new businesses will open, families will go on adventures together, and Santa will attend several events to take photographs for his many fans. Storytellers Macon will present another evening of free storytelling at Grant's Lounge on Tuesday, while the Nutcracker of Middle Georgia will return to The Piedmont Grand Opera House for 6 showings starting on Wednesday. The following are just a few of the fun, interesting, and often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.
MONDAY, December 8th
>> Grand Opening of Gray Pack and Ship (9 a.m.-5:45 p.m.)
Gray Pack and Ship is a new business is coming to Gray and it will have a Grand Opening celebration on Monday. Shoppers will get a chance to win a free 50 in Smart TV giveaway, according to the store. Gray Pack and Ship will offer UPS, Fedex, and USPS Shipping as well as packing and shipping, fingerprinting, notary public services, and mailbox rentals. The Gray Pack and Ship Grand Opening is free to attend.

>> HEALTH: Macon Volunteer Clinic Health Education Class - Eating Healthy on a Budget (5:15-6:15 p.m.)
The Macon Volunteer Clinic will present a Health Education class about Eating Healthy on a Budget this Monday evening. Attendees will learn useful knowledge about how to eat well without spending too much money on food from nutrition experts from Piedmont Macon. >> THEATER: Auditions for “The Constant Wife” at Warner Robins Little Theatre (12/8-12/9) (7-9 p.m.)
Director Abi Brown is looking for actors to perform in “The Constant Wife” and will hold auditions on Monday night. This 1928 play by W. Somerset Maugham is a comedy that tells the story of Constance who appeared to have everything she wanted with her marriage and loving family. When her circumstances begin to change, Constance has to fight to get her way, even if she has to break some rules along the way. “The Constant Wife” will have showings from February 7th through 22nd, 2026.

>> Santa at the Monroe County Library (12/9-12/12) (3-6 p.m.)
Santa Class (aka Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle, and Saint Nick) will be visiting patrons at the Monroe County Library this week from Tuesday through Friday. Guests will get a chance to make crafts, hear stories, and take pictures at this free, family friendly event.

>> Storytellers Macon presents Book Club at Grant’s Lounge (6:30-8:30 p.m.)
Storytellers Macon returns to Grant’s Lounge on Tuesday for another evening of true tales around one interesting theme. The theme for this month’s Storytellers Macon event is Book Club. Storytellers will relate stories about the “chapters that shape us,” stories that changed their lives, surprising real life plot twists, and more. The featured storyteller for Book Club will be Barbara Newton, LMFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist who provides counseling and mental health services to Middle Georgians. Audience members will have a chance to tell their own true, 5 minute stories related to the evening’s storytelling theme. Sign up to tell you own story before the event at this link. This event is recommended for mature audiences because the stories are not censored. This unique storytelling event is free and open to the public.

>> MUSIC: Dead Day featuring DJ Steel at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.)
DJ Steel will be helping students take a break for studying for their exams during Dead Day at The Hummingbird on Tuesday. Drink specials will include $2 domestics and wells. Mercer students 21 and older get in free. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover for everyone else at the door.

WEDNESDAY, December 10th
>> Family Fun Night at North Houston Sports Complex (4-8 p.m.)
Family Fun Night will feature a chance to take photos with Santa, Mouse characters, and holiday princesses, get your face painted, take part in a snowball fight with Middle GA Gellyball and more. Attendees will end the evening with a screening of the family-friendly animated film “The Polar Express.” Family Fun Night is free and open to the public.

>> BALLET: The Nutcracker of Middle Georgia at The Piedmont Grand Opera House (12/10-12/14) (7:30-9:30 p.m.)
Attending a festive performance of Nutcracker of Middle Georgia is a family tradition for many in Middle Georgia. There will be 6 showings in the historic The Piedmont Grand Opera House from Wednesday, December 10th through Sunday, December 14th. This show will include ballet dancers made up of both Middle Georgia youth and professional dancers from around the United States. Tickets to the Nutcracker of Middle Georgia cost $35+ and can be purchased online at this link.

>> Festival of Trees Reception at the Museum of Aviation (5:30-7:30 p.m.)
The Museum of Aviation Foundation will host the 2025 Festival of Trees Reception this Thursday evening. Guests will get a chance to see elaborately decorated Christmas trees, take photos in front of Christmas card worthy backdrops, and enjoy holiday treats and drinks. Dress code for this event is “holiday best.” The Festival of Trees Reception start at $20 and tickets can be purchased online at this link.

>> Milledgeville-Baldwin Chamber’s 2025 Holiday Social at Lockerly Arboretum (5:30-7:30 p.m.)
The Milledgeville-Baldwin Chamber (MBC) will host their annual Holiday Social this Thursday in the Lockerly Arboretum. This is MBC’s “biggest Business After Hours of the year” and will include many chances for networking and celebrating the holiday with other Middle Georgians. Half Pint Haven will present its Christmas Extravaganza starting this Thursday evening and running through Saturday, December 27th every Thursday through Saturday (except for on Christmas Day). Guests will take tractor rides through a festive Christmas light display and get an opportunity to pet Half Pint Haven’s adorable animals. There will also be a hot chocolate bar, popcorn, cookie decorating kits, and more, according to Half Pint Haven. Half Pint Haven’s Christmas Extravaganza costs $10 per family.
