ASTRONOMY FORECAST
The second Full Moon in May, the Blue Moon, will rise on Sunday, May 31st. Blue Moons aren't actually blue. Instead, they occur either as the third Full Moon of an astronomical season with four Full Moons, or as the second Full Moon in a month, which is the case with this Blue Moon. This Full Moon will be the year's smallest Micromoon because it is close to the point where the Moon is farthest from Earth (called the Moon's apogee). Moonrise is predicted to occur at 9:22 p.m. on May 31st, which, along with an illumination of almost 100%, will make viewing this celestial occurrence as easy as looking up (unless pesky clouds get in the way).
