MONDAY, July 27th

  >> Shark Week Watch Party and Drinks at Oliver’s Corner Bistro in Macon (7/26-8/2)

Oliver’s Corner Bistro will be celebrating Discovery Channel’s Shark Week through Sunday, with patrons gathering around the big screens to watch the powerful and dangerous sharks while enjoying “bold flavors [and] tropical vibes.” Discovery Channel’s first shark-themed programming took place in July of 1988. Oliver’s Corner Bistro is well-known in Middle Georgia for its delicious French and Italian food, friendly staff, and creative cocktails.

  >> ART: Artspace Macon’s Call For Art - The Space Between in Macon

The Space Between will be a group exhibition exploring positive and negative space visually and metaphorically, according to Artspace Macon. Artists can submit work for The Space Between through Saturday, August 22nd. Artspace Macon offers art classes, workshops, date night events, and more in the trendy Ingleside Village neighborhood.

TUESDAY, July 28th

  >> Gray Community Church’s Back to School Bash at W.E. Knox Civic Center in Gray (6-8 p.m.)

Gray Community Church will present a back-to-school event at Gray’s W.E. Knox Civic Center on Tuesday. The local church will be giving away free school supplies, free haircuts, and more. Note: supplies are limited and only available while they last, according to Gray Community Church.

  >> FOOD: Summer of Sizzle: Steakhouse Tuesdays at Grits Cafe in Forsyth (5-9 p.m.)

Middle Georgia foodies can enjoy a rotating cut of beef during Grits Cafe’s Steakhouse Tuesdays, presented by Grits Cafe's Chef Robert Smith in partnership with Forsyth’s Rocking Chair Ranch Cattle. Grits Cafe is a popular restaurant that serves creative Southern cuisine in a classy atmosphere.

  >> POKER: Free Poker at Goat Island Tavern in Jackson (7-9 p.m.)

Poker players are invited to play what is billed as the “best poker in Middle Georgia” at Goat Island Tavern this Tuesday. Goat Island Tavern is a pub, live music venue, and bar and grill that serves 50 beers on tap and has pool and shuffleboard tables. According to locals, an island in nearby Crooked Creek once had wild goats living on it, and the fond memory is kept alive in name by businesses like Goat Island Tavern.

WEDNESDAY, July 29th

  >> Plant Bingo at The Society Garden in Macon (5:30 p.m.)

Cam’s Plants at Ingleside Village is hosting another round of Plant Bingo at The Society Garden this Wednesday. Winners will receive unique houseplants, with all participants receiving a free plant just for participating. This is a popular event, and usually sells out quickly: tickets can be purchased at this link until then.

  >> BASEBALL: Heart of Georgia Hospice Macon Bacon Fundraiser at Luther Williams Field in Macon (7 p.m.)

Baseball fans can enjoy America’s pastime while helping support Heart of Georgia Hospice this Wednesday when the Macon Bacon face off against the Lexington County Blowfish in historic Luther Williams Field. Participants can also take part in a 50/50 raffle, with 50% of the proceeds going to Heart of Georgia Hospice. Tickets cost $17, which includes admission, a free Macon Bacon hat, and all-you-can-eat hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, cookies, and more. Tickets can be purchased at the Heart of Georgia Hospice office at 103 Westridge Drive in Warner Robins or by texting (478) 550-4387.

THURSDAY, July 30th

  >> Mario Kart Tournament and 90’s Karaoke at Switch Macon in Macon (7 p.m.)

Mario Kart is well known for being a fun game to play with friends, and Middle Georgian’s can make new friends or take friends along at Switch Macon’s Mario Kart Tournament on Thursday. While there, patrons can also belt out some of the many memorable 90’s songs you know by heart. There is a $20 buy-in to compete in the tournament.   >> YOGA: Full Moon Yoga and Fire Ceremony on Coleman Hill in Macon (7 p.m.)

Yoga teacher Amber Pierce will present a donation-based yoga and fire ceremony on Downtown Macon’s Coleman Hill this Thursday. This yoga class is great for beginners and experts alike. Those who arrive early will get a chance to create inspiring chalk art. This unique event helps participants relax and let go of the daily worries that weigh so many down.

>> FRIDAY, July 31st: Lizella Reign ($10 Beer + A Local Show) at The Robins Financial Capitol Theatre in Macon (8 p.m.): The Robins Financial Capitol Theatre and Macon Magazine once again present another concert in the $10 beer + a local show concert series next Friday, with a performance from Macon’s Lizella Reign. This band has a combined 50+ years of performing in Middle Georgia. The $10 ticket price also includes 1 beer (for concertgoers 21 and older). (382 2nd Street, Macon)

>> SATURDAY, August 1st: Back to School Foam & Dance Party at The Society Garden in Macon: Celebrate the kids going back to school with a kids’ dance and foam party next Saturday. A DJ will be spinning records starting at 4:30 p.m., and a giant foam cannon from Poppin’ Parties will be spraying 6 feet of cooling foam. Tickets to the Back to School Foam & Dance Party cost $5.
