Weekend Adventures in the Heart of Georgia (8/14-8/16)

There are events scheduled for art and music lovers, shoppers, families, and more during the next few days. There are lots of unique things to do this weekend, and fans of the Australian children's music group The Wiggles can see them perform in Macon, while roller derby fans can attend a disco-themed game in Gray just on Saturday. The following are just a few of the fun, interesting, and often free things to do this weekend in the heart of Georgia.

FRIDAY, August 14th

  >> ART: Rigby’s Fine Art Exhibition (8/14-8/16) (6 p.m.)

Rigby's Fine Art Exhibition will take place all weekend long in the air-conditioned Rigby's Entertainment and Conference Center in Warner Robins. This is a juried fine art event affiliated with the Fine Art Society of Middle Georgia featuring artwork from over 40 artists and photographers, according to Rigby’s. Friday night’s event will include a VIP reception from 6 to 7 p.m., with tickets costing $45, while on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., members of the general public can view the exhibition for $10 per ticket.

  >> Fractal Friday at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon (6-8 p.m.)

Macon’s Museum of Arts and Sciences is once again partnering with the Fractal Foundation of Albuquerque, New Mexico to present Fractal Friday this week. This event is described by the museum as “innovative art-infused science experiences in the planetarium which immerse audiences in flights through fractal animations.” Fractal Friday’s 6 p.m. performance is made for family audiences, while the 7:15 p.m. show is a “more experiential production.” Tickets to Fractal Friday’s performances cost $8 each for members and $10 each for non-members and can be purchased online at this link.

  >> MUSIC: The Fab Four: The Solo Years at Hawkins Arena in Macon (7:30)

The Macon Pops will present The Fab Four: The Solo Years at Mercer University’s Hawkins Arena this Friday evening. The music at this show will focus on the solo careers of the famous members of The Beatles. Attendees can bring their own food, but no beverages are allowed, and a full cash bar will be available. Current Mercer students and faculty get free general admission tickets with ID (and 15% off all seats with code MERCERPOPS). General admission tickets cost $25, and other ticket options are also available online at this link.

    > Hawkins Arena: 1400 Coleman Avenue, Macon

  >> ASTRONOMY: Indian Springs Observation Night at Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla (8:15-9:45 p.m.)

Both experienced and novice stargazers will gather at beautiful Indian Springs State Park’s dam on Friday night for an evening of awe-inspiring astronomy. Attendees can bring their own telescopes or binoculars, and members of the Flint River Astronomy Club will have telescopes set up for viewing the starry skies as well. There will be guided tours of constellations, planets, and deep-sky objects, according to the Flint River Astronomy Club. Attendees should bring blankets or lawn chairs and dress appropriately for the weather. This event may be cancelled due to inclement weather, so check this link for directions and updates. This event is free but there is a $5 parking fee per vehicle to park at Indian Springs State Park.

  >> MUSIC: The Page Brothers Band at Grant’s Lounge in Macon (9 p.m.)

The Page Brothers Band describe their unique style as “a swampy, southern sound rooted in bluesy rock n’ roll and Georgia soul,” and they will perform at historic Grant's Lounge this Friday night. Tickets to see The Page Brothers in concert cost $10 online or at the door.

  >> MUSIC: DJ Blessed B33ZY Birthday Bash: Wu-Tang Edition at Friends on the HILL in Warner Robins (10 p.m.)

Local DJ Blessed B33ZY will celebrate his birthday weekend with a Wu-Tang-themed party this Saturday night at Friends on the HILL in Warner Robins. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite member of the Wu-Tang Clan. B3 & Blessed B33ZY will provide the music for the evening’s celebration. There is no cover charge at Friends on the HILL.

SATURDAY, August 15TH

  >> Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social at the Old School History Museum in Eatonton (11 a.m.-2 p.m.)

The Old School History Museum in Eatonton is presenting an Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social this Saturday. Families will gather at the museum’s Arts Barn for activities like dancing, singing, and carnival games, and plenty of ice cream, too. The Old School History Museum collects, preserves, and interprets Eatonton and Putnam County history, according to its website. The Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social is free to attend.

  >> MUSIC/ART: The Rich Flip: Macon’s Little Richard Tribute by SCENE featuring Beat Konductaz at the Mill Hill Community Arts Center in Macon (12-8 p.m.)

Beat Konductaz presents The Rich Flip this Saturday at the historic Mill Hill Community Arts Center. This music and art-filled event will pay tribute to Macon’s Little Richard. Rich Flip will bring together hip-hop artists, producers, sound designers, cultural leaders, visual artists, and community members and include live producer sets, live performances, an award ceremony, and more. It will also feature producer Shawn J Period, known for working with artists like DJ Krus and Mos Def, along with special guest Ma Dukes, mother of J Dilla and founder of the James Dewitt Yancey Foundation. Zimbabwe Legit pioneer Dumi Right will host The Rich Flip, and local artist Kevin “Scene” Lewis will be on scene creating a live painting and presenting a cultural arts exhibition that honors Little Richard.   >> MUSIC: The Wiggles: Tree of Wisdom Spectacular! at the Macon City Auditorium in Macon (6 p.m.)

The world-famous children’s music group The Wiggles will bring their Tree of Wisdom Spectacular! show to Macon this Saturday. Attendees will dance and sing-along to popular songs like Rock-A-Bye Your Bear, Fruit Salad Yummy Yummy, and Hot Potato! Children 1 and older will need a ticket for entry to the show. Tickets to see The Wiggles start at $50.80 online on ticketmaster.com.

  >> ROLLER DERBY: Derby at the Disco at Gray-8-Skate Family Entertainment Center in Gray (6 p.m.)

The Middle Georgia Derby Demons will present Derby at the Disco this Saturday evening at the Gray-8-Skate Family Entertainment Center in Gray. Expect high-energy roller derby and disco beats at this unique event. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the 1st whistle blows at 6:30 p.m. Pre-sale ticket prices can be purchased online at this link and cost $10 for kids under 12 and $16 for adults (kids 12 and up), while kids under 5 get in free.

  >> MUSIC: Macon Music Revue at Grant’s Lounge in Macon (9-11 p.m.)

Macon Music Revue will perform popular songs from the many iconic artists who called Macon home at some point this Saturday night at Grant’s Lounge. Made up of five local musicians, the band has perfected tributes to artists like Little Richard and Otis Redding, as well as artists who recorded at Downtown Macon’s Capricorn Records like The Allman Brothers Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Swamp Dogg, and many more. Special guest Keia Johnson, a Memphis rock and soul singer, will join the band for this Saturday’s show. Tickets to see the Macon Music Revue in concert cost $10 online or at the door.

  >> MUSIC: Stranger Company at The Hummingbird in Macon (9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)

Atlanta's Stranger Company will perform funk-infused rock n’ roll music at The Hummingbird early into the next morning this Saturday night. The band was formed at the University of South Carolina in 2020, and they regularly perform up and down the East Coast, according to an article on the VoyageATL website. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover at the door for this show.

SUNDAY, August 16th

  >> SHOPPING: Macon Market at stARTup Studios in Macon (8/15-8/16) (12-5 p.m.)

This Saturday and Sunday, shoppers can visit Downtown Macon’s stARTup Studios to buy unique, often one-of-a-kind items from local vendors and meet some of Middle Georgia’s creative community. stARTup Studios is also offering 50% off beer, seltzers & Clubtails from 2–5 p.m. for those 21 and up. There is no charge to attend this two-day shopping event.

  >> WEDNESDAY, August 19th: Art of Science: “Sounds of Appalachia” at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon (7-8:30 p.m.): The Museum of Arts and Sciences will present another performance in its new lecture performance series “The Art of Science” next Wednesday, “Sounds of Appalachia.” Attendees will learn about the musical traditions of Appalachia, hear the sounds of Appalachia, learn to read shape notes, and sing. This educational event is free for members, included in the museum’s General Admission ticket price, or costs $5 at the door. (4182 Forsyth Road, Macon)

  >> THURSDAY, August 20th through SUNDAY, August 23rd: Macon Film Festival 2026 in Macon: The 2026 Macon Film Fest will celebrate independent films with screenings at The Douglass Theatre, Theatre Macon, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and The Museum of Arts and Sciences, where immersive Fulldome films will be projected on the museum’s planetarium ceiling. Comedian Brock Savage will host, with performances from Macon’s Vic, Tallahassee’s Nicole Ortiz, and Atlanta’s Eddie Coleman.
