Weekday Adventures in the Heart of Georgia (9/21-9/24)

Middle Georgia music lovers have their plates full this week, with a performance by the Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra on Monday and GABBAFest 2026 bringing special events to venues around Macon from Thursday through Sunday. The annual Macon Pride takes place this week, starting with Lively Libations and Karaoke at Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen on Thursday and ending on Sunday with an Interfaith Worship and Family Picnic on top of Coleman Hill. The following are just a few of the unique, interesting, and often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.

MONDAY, September 21st

  >> MUSIC: Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra #1 at The Piedmont Grand Opera House in Macon (7:30 p.m.)

The former associate conductor of the famed New York Philharmonic, Case Scaglione, along with two skilled soloists, violinist Stefan Jackiw and cellist Brannon Cho, and other talented musicians from Mercer University’s Townsend School of Music will perform for Middle Georgians at The Piedmont Grand Opera House on Monday. The song opening the show was created after a conductor asked a composer for something to make him happy, according to the venue. TUESDAY, September 22nd

  >> Low-Cost Spay/Neuter at Spalding County Animal Care and Control in Griffin (8:30-8:45 a.m.)

The non-profit HELP Spay/Neuter Clinic will be offering low-cost spay and neuter services this Tuesday in Griffin. Pet owners will drop them off at the Spalding County Animal Care and Control, where they will pick them up the next day after the surgery has been completed. WEDNESDAY, September 23rd

SparkMacon presents another Entrepreneur’s Night this Wednesday in collaboration with a local Macon-Bibb business or organization, this time with Middle Georgia State University’s Center for Middle Georgia Studies. MGA’s Center for Middle Georgia Studies’ mission is focused on regional prosperity and vitality. This networking event from SparkMacon is free to attend.

  >> WRESTLING: Micro Wrestling at The Society Garden in Macon (8-10 p.m.)

The Micro Wrestling Foundation (MWF) brings an all-ages professional wrestling event to Macon’s The Society Garden on Wednesday night. All members of the MWF are under five feet tall and featured on the Discovery Channel’s “Big Little Brawlers.” There will be two single matches, a Micro Brawl, and a Micro Rumble, according to the MWF. Macon Pride presents the annual Lively Libations and Karaoke Social this Thursday at Downtown Macon’s Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen. Piedmont will release a new beer during this community event. There is no charge to attend Macon Pride’s Lively Libations and Karaoke Social.

Heather Outloud of Outloud Entertainment will host Outloud Trivia at Main Street Social this Thursday evening. Main Street Social is a social club/bar located in Downtown Perry that serves handcrafted cocktails and more.

GABBAfest 2026 kicks off with two events on Thursday at Downtown Macon’s Fresh Produce Records and Grant’s Lounge. GABBAfest is an annual music festival for the many Allman Brothers Band fans who live across the world. Attendees will first get a chance to meet Central Florida rock/blues musician Blake Free at Fresh Produce Records at 5 p.m. Then the Jackson Tanner Trio and other acts will perform at historic Grant’s Lounge at 7 p.m. Tickets to the show at Grant’s Lounge cost $10.
