Of special note, the 8th annual Joey Stuckey Alive Day invites Middle Georgians to celebrate the joys of living while enjoying live music from Jimmy Hall on Wednesday. MONDAY, September 28th
>> WORTHY CAUSE: Pop Can Tab Collection at Washington Memorial Library in Macon (9 a.m.-8 p.m.)
Washington Memorial Library will host a pop can tab collection station on Monday to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia in solidarity with the InTown Macon Neighborhood Association, the Historic Ingleside Neighborhood Association, and the Vineville Neighborhood Association. National Good Neighbor Day encourages activity to help strengthen and build communities with neighborhood events and acts of kindness.

>> JOBS: Job Fair at Washington Memorial Library in Macon (4-7 p.m.)
Local employers, information vendors, and career service professionals will be on hand at the historic Washington Memorial Library during a job fair on Monday evening. This job fair is hosted jointly by the Business and Nonprofit Center and the library’s Young Adult Specialist. >> MUSIC: Mercer University's High School Tenor/Bass Festival in Macon (9:15 a.m.-4 p.m.)
Conductor Dr. Stanley L. Roberts will lead high school students as they rehearse music and sing with the Mercer Singers at the High School Tenor/Bass Festival on Tuesday. Tickets to this festival cost $15 for All-State Choir Students, $30 for other students, and are free to Georgia All-State Reading Choir Students. WEDNESDAY, September 30th
>> MUSIC: Jimmy Hall performs at the Shadow Sound Studio Grand Re-Opening and 30-Year Celebration for Joey Stuckey Alive Day 2026 in Macon (4-8 p.m.)
The 8th annual Joey Stuckey Alive Day will take place along with the Shadow Sound Studio’s Grand Re-Opening on Wednesday. Joey Stuckey’s parents were told he would die from a brain tumor when he was a child, but he survived that traumatic incident, though he lost his sight as a result. Stuckey is now the Official Music Ambassador of Macon and the owner and chief engineer of Shadow Sound Studio. Joey Stuckey Alive Day celebrates the joys of life and encourages the community to “celebrate their own personal triumphs against adversity,” according to Stuckey’s website. This free celebratory event includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m., followed by an acoustic concert from Jimmy Hall at 4:30 p.m. and main studio tours from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

THURSDAY, October 1st
>> 2026 Scarecrow Contest and Showcase in Eatonton (10/1-10/31)
Local businesses, civic organizations, churches, families, and others will create unique scarecrows that will be on display throughout Downtown Eatonton throughout October. Visitors can vote on their favorite scarecrows by stopping at Eatonton Main Street’s office at City Hall to cast a vote with a paper ballot or scan the QR code on the orange sign next to each scarecrow. The winning scarecrows will be revealed on Facebook Live on November 1st.

>> Toast & Taste at the Hay House in Macon (6-9 p.m.)
Visitors to the stately Palace of the South will try out small-batch cocktails from Middle Georgia’s best restaurants, distilleries, and breweries, along with food from some of Macon’s talented chefs at Toast & Taste on Thursday. This event will also include a cash raffle and a silent auction. Tickets to Hay House’s Toast & Taste cost $45 per person online at this link.

>> FRIDAY, October 2nd: Terror Fest at Lake Joy Trails of Terror in Kathleen (4 p.m.): Lake Joy Trails of Terror officially opened last weekend, but the frights will continue on Friday during Terror Fest. >> FRIDAY, October 2nd: Downtown Goes Disney in Downtown Macon (5-7 p.m.): NewTown Macon presents Downtown Goes Disney to celebrate “Disney on Ice” at the Macon Centreplex from October 30th through November 1st. Visitors to Downtown Macon on October’s First Friday will meet Disney-inspired characters, take part in a window scavenger hunt where you can win tickets to “Disney on Ice,” and more.
