PRESS RELEASE: Announcing Macon’s Kegs & Stills Trail: Fill Your Passport by Sampling Macon, Georgia’s Staple Brews
MACON, GA (October 24, 2023) — Visit Macon is excited to announce the Kegs & Stills Trail in partnership with Rock Candy Tours – designed to guide visitors to Macon’s newest craft distillery and local breweries!
The Macon Kegs & Stills Trail is available in two experiential forms: A self-guided ‘Passport’ and an in-person guided tour.
Kegs & Stills Trail Passports can be picked up at the Downtown Visitors Center located at 450 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard during normal business hours. The passport guides you through the spirits you’ll find at Longleaf Distillery (664 2nd Street) and then on to sample the staple brews and a featured seasonal selection at Fall Line Brewing Co. (567 Plum Street), Ocmulgee Brewpub (484 2nd Street) and Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen (450b 3rd Street).
Collect stamps for each sampled beverage. Fill your Kegs & Stills Passport and return it to the Downtown Visitors Center to redeem. A filled passport wins you an exclusive “Kegs & Stills Trail” growler, two Macon, Georgia tasting glasses and (while supplies last) a complementary growler fill courtesy of Just Tap’d! Just Tap’d is located 488 1st Street where there are 64 taps of fresh craft beer to choose from.
The Macon Kegs & Stills Tour, by Rock Candy Tours, gets participants exclusive behind-the-brews insight & tours of where the magic happens with the brewmasters themselves. While walking to each participating location, you’ll also receive a brief history of Macon, Georgia’s soulful origins, where musical legends were made and Southern Rock was born.
The inaugural monthly walking tour will be Saturday, December 2nd, 2023. Tickets can be purchased at rockcandytours.com and space is limited! This tour will take you to 3 of the 4 locations within the passport tour, including Fall Line Brewery, Ocmulgee Brewpub and Longleaf Distillery. Participants will have the opportunity to collect stamps as well!
In-person tour dates, times and available breweries will vary each month. You can find details of future tours and availability by visiting their website at rockcandytours.com.
“We are so excited to revamp our brewery tour with Rock Candy and have something new to offer our visitors to guide them through Macon’s proudly made ales & spirits!” said Gary Wheat, President & CEO of Visit Macon. “This was an extremely popular guided tour experience in the past with Rock Candy’s behind-the-brews tour. It’s a chance to speak with the brewmasters and business owners… and taste the best that Macon has to offer. With the addition of Longleaf Distillery, our craft brews are expanding so we are excited to show them off!”
