PRESS RELEASE: Chattahoochee Nature Center Celebrates 40th Annual Halloween Hikes
Longest-Running Halloween Event in Metro Atlanta Delights Families with Cultural Traditions, Educational Encounters and Non-Scary Fun for All Ages
ROSWELL, Ga. – October 9, 2025 – Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and leader in environmental education, conservation and the rehabilitation of native plant and wildlife along the Chattahoochee River, metro Atlanta and the state of Georgia, announces the return of Halloween Hikes October 24-26, 2025. Celebrating its 40th year, the event marks the longest-running Halloween-themed event within Metro Atlanta.
As we celebrate 40 years of this beloved community event, we are eager to welcome multiple generations of Halloween Hikes fans to the grounds,” said Natasha Rice, president and chief executive officer of CNC. “Families can anticipate a spooky, yet non-scary night, full of educational opportunities connecting them to nature and the world through our cultural programming.”
Throughout the campus, the event will highlight the cultural differences among other seasonal celebrations from around the world—from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain to the colorful traditions of Día de los Muertos—while including classic American Halloween favorites like s’mores around the fire pit, games crafts and more.
Attendees will have the option to wander into the nighttime forest on the Halloween Hikes Trail, where they will be introduced to resilient resident raptors, amphibians and mammals that call the Chattahoochee Watershed home. In addition to the hike, embark on The Haunted Quest—an immersive scavenger hunt set on the night of Samhain. Guests are invited to explore the shadowed forest, solve eerie clues and outsmart mischievous spirits with the “will-o’-the-wisp” serving as the guide. Recommended for ages 12 and up; children must be accompanied by an adult.
