PRESS RELEASE: Warner Robins Staffing and Recruiting Firm Now Accepting Applications for Prestigious Leadership Scholarship

Local Spherion Office Encourages Georgia Students to Apply for Up to $5,000 in Scholarship Funding

WARNER ROBINS, Ga.– Spherion Staffing and Recruiting of Warner Robins is now accepting applications for the 2026 Sandy Mazur Excellence in Leadership Scholarship, encouraging students across Georgia to apply for funding to support their higher education goals.
The scholarship awards up to $5,000 to individuals pursuing higher education who demonstrate leadership, academic achievement, and a commitment to bettering their communities. Applications are open now through April 30, 2026.

Created by Spherion’s franchise community in partnership with the Richland County Foundation, the scholarship is open to students across Georgia, including high school seniors, current college students, and individuals returning to school to further their careers. It was established in honor of former Spherion President Sandy Mazur and recognizes students who reflect her legacy of leadership and community impact.

Now in its seventh year, the scholarship program has awarded scholarships to 17 students nationwide. In 2025, the program awarded $25,000 to five recipients, marking its largest class to date.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see students who are already making a difference in their communities take the next step in their professional journeys,” said Sandy Mazur, former president of Spherion. “I’m proud to continue to be a part of a community that champions the next generation of leaders. Good luck to all who apply this year!”

To be eligible, applicants must plan to enroll in a trade school, two-year or four-year college or university and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Candidates are also required to submit a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA and share examples of their community involvement, including how they plan to “pay it forward” in their future careers. While the scholarship is merit-based, financial need will also be taken into consideration. Applicants must reside in a state where Spherion operates.

Spherion’s franchise community partners with the Richland County Foundation, an Ohio-based nonprofit, to administer the scholarship. Applications are reviewed anonymously by a selection committee, with recipients selected based on merit, leadership, and community involvement.
