PRESS RELEASE: Kids Exchange Library Reading Minutes for Summer Baseball Tickets to Keep Skills Sharp for School.

MACON, GA – Macon Bacon Baseball teams up with Middle Georgia Regional Library (MGRL) during its Summer Reading Program to award free home game tickets to K - 12 students who log 12.5 hours of reading.

The offer is available to all students who complete the Summer Reading Challenge at any branch in MGRL’s seven-county service area. This Challenge encourages students to continue building their print literacy, vocabulary, and reading comprehension throughout the summer break.

During this time away from school, students are at risk of losing the skills they learned from the previous school year; a phenomenon known as the ‘Summer Slide.’ MGRL’s partnership with Macon Bacon helps combat the Summer Slide by rewarding students for tracking their reading minutes and visiting the library each week.

Once students reach 12.5 hours of reading, they can show library staff their paper reading logs or online reading progress in the Beanstack App to receive their prize ticket. This prize is one of many incentives offered to readers by MGRL, along with more than 500 free, family-friendly activities across the library system during June and July.

Tickets grant winning readers free entry to any Macon Bacon game scheduled Monday through Thursday at Luther Williams Stadium in Macon from May 25 until July 9. Ticketholders must be accompanied by an adult. Admission for adult guardians of ticketholders is $17, and includes all-you-can-eat food and drinks. Prize tickets cannot be accepted after July 9.

Winners can redeem their ticket by contacting Macon Bacon Baseball Vice President of Sales, Austin Karp, at (478) 219-2488.
