PRESS RELEASE: The Creek Celebrates 10 Years with “CreekFest” Event in Historic Downtown Macon

Live music, local culture, and decades of storytelling come together on June 27 in Historic Downtown Macon; Timed to Attract FIFA World Cup Traffic to Macon, GA

MACON, Ga (June 18, 2026) – Visit Macon and The Creek are proud to announce CreekFest, a one-night outdoor festival celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Creek, Macon’s Americana music station turned global streaming media brand. The event will take place on Saturday, June 27, in Historic Downtown Macon, bringing together live music, local flavor, and the spirit of a city that continues to shape American music.

What began as WNEX in 1945—and evolved into The Creek in 2016—has grown into a powerful storytelling platform powered by Visit Macon, dedicated to sharing the city’s music, culture, and people with a worldwide audience. Today, The Creek streams far beyond Central Georgia, connecting listeners everywhere to the authentic sound of Macon.

“CreekFest is more than a celebration of a radio station—it’s a celebration of Macon’s living musical legacy,” said Susie Cowan, General Manager of The Creek. “For 10 years, The Creek has carried forward the stories and sounds that define this city. This event brings that mission to life in the most authentic way possible: live, in the streets, with the community.”

A Night of Music Through the Streets: CreekFest will be highlighting the legendary influences connected to Macon and the next generation of Georgia artists that you hear on The Creek’s airwaves:

  • The Rookery Stage will host an electrifying lineup beginning with:
    • Supper — SUPPER is an Atlanta-based five-piece rooted in the blues and funk traditions of American music. Brought together from every corner of the heartland, the band digs deep into the rich cultural heritage that shaped American sound. They believe great art lives and dies by its truth and vulnerability — and that philosophy comes through in every note they play. Equal parts band and cosmic messengers, SUPPER makes music that's warm, soulful, and built for everyone.
    • Brother Wallace — A true force of nature, Brother Wallace was born to make music that ignites pure joy, even in the darkest of moments. This Georgia-bred artist has followed his lifelong passion down an extraordinary path that spans from sharing the stage with gospel legend Kirk Franklin to performing at historic venues like Madison Square Garden as a background vocalist for globally adored rock band The Heavy. Over the past few years, Brother Wallace has teamed up with The Heavy guitarist Dan Taylor in dreaming up a body of work built on his electrifying brand of soul music, and is now set to release a one-of-a-kind album revealing the transcendent power and life-affirming impact of his timeless yet daring artistry.
    • Mike Mattison & Trash Magic — Mike Mattison is a singer/songwriter and founding member of the blues/roots group Scrapomatic. He has been a member of the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Derek Trucks Band for 22 years, and has penned some of their signature tunes, including “Midnight In Harlem” which presently has over 45 million streams on Spotify. With the TTB and DTB, Mattison has won two Grammys for Best Blues Album, eight Blues Music Awards from the Blues Music Foundation and four Canadian Maple Blues Awards. “Turn a Midnight Corner” is Mattison’s third solo outing, featuring players from Tedeschi Trucks Band/Scrapomatic — Tyler “Falcon” Greenwell on drums; Dr. John/Susan Tedeschi Band/Scrapomatic -- Dave Yoke on guitar; Los Lobos satellite member, Greg Spradlin on guitar, and Atlanta session man Wesley Flowers on bass. The record is loosely based on a fictional 1930s blues duo who are “rediscovered” in the early 1970s. Mattison is hard at work on a novella of the same name.
    • Andy Thomas — Andy Thomas has worked his way up the ranks as an electrifying guitarist across the United States and abroad, whether it’s fronting his own wild-n-out project The Trongone Band or being the six-string rocket fuel for the melodic muscle car that is acclaimed Americana act Yarn. Produced by fellow Virginia native and longtime friend Dave Schools, the legendary bassist for Widespread Panic, and captured at the renowned Spacebomb Studios, Thomas' debut album, “Highway Junkie,” connects the dots of Thomas’ troubled past and hard-fought strength of self in the present — this juncture of fiery southern rock & roll and high-octane country blues.

More Than Music: CreekFest transforms downtown Macon into an immersive celebration of culture and community. Attendees can expect local craft drinks, music-made or music-inspired goods, and local business experiences that reflect the city’s rich heritage and vibrant creative scene. It is also providing special accommodations to honor Macon’s resident musicians.

The event also marks a milestone moment for The Creek as it continues its evolution into a 24/7 media brand—broadcasting the Macon experience through music and storytelling to audiences around the globe.
