"A Night of Georgia Music" will feature music performed at the Grand Opera House and Capricorn Sound Studios in Macon.
Macon native Mike Mills, founding member of R.E.M, Robert McDuffie and students from Mercer's Robert McDuffie Center for Strings, and Chuck Leavell of Allman Brothers Band and Rolling Stones fame will perform during "A Night of Georgia Music". Ward Stare is the conductor of the band.
This film was recorded in March of this year at Macon’s Grand Opera House and the newly renovated Capricorn Sound Studios. headlined by three of Georgia’s most well-known musicians.
This concert film premiers July 4th on GPB and will feature songs by iconic musicians such as "Otis Redding, Ray Charles, the Allman Brothers Band, R.E.M., James Brown, Outkast, the B-52s, Brook Benton".
Mercer University recentlyreleased "The Making of A Night of Georgia Music" showing highlights from the performances.
Songs featured in the show include One Way Out, Rainy Night in Georgia, Rain in Spain, Southscape, Respect, Give Me Back My Man, Georgia On My Mind, Hey Ya, Losing My Religion, and Jessica according to Mercer University's The Den.
