Are you looking for an adventure to go on this weekend? Whether you're itching to dig into some garden greenery, dance the night away to live music, or enjoy a little small-town charm, there will be many events where you can make the most of your Friday through Sunday taking place in the heart of Georgia. From Macon to Perry and beyond, local venues and community spaces are coming alive with book sales, food festivals, concerts, and more. Below we have gathered a selection of some of the interesting, can’t-miss happenings to help you plan your weekend.


FRIDAY, April 25th

Old Book Sale Houston County Friends of the Library (4/24-4/26) (10 a.m.-3 p.m.)

Book enthusiasts can browse through 90,000 books spanning 60 categories at this massive sale. From children's books and cookbooks to mysteries and vintage finds, there's something for everyone. Most items are priced between $1 and $2.50, with all remaining books and media half-price on Saturday.

20th Annual Fired Works Festival (4/25-5/3) (10 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Explore the largest exhibit of functional and sculptural pottery in Georgia at the Fired Works Festival. Featuring works from over 65 artists, this event showcases a diverse range of ceramic art and will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day through May 3rd.

Sky Over Macon at the Museum of Arts and Sciences (7:30-10:30 p.m.)

Join the Museum of Arts and Sciences and the Middle Georgia Astronomical Society for an evening of stargazing on Friday night. Weather permitting, attendees can observe celestial objects through telescopes and enjoy planetarium shows. Sky Over Macon is included with entry to the museum, which is free for members and children under 3, $5 for children 3 to 17, $8 for Senior Citizens and military members (with ID), and $10 for adults 18 and older.

MUSIC: The Randall Bramblett Band at Grant’s Lounge (8 p.m.)

Experience the soulful sounds of Southern music icon Randall Bramblett as he returns to the historic Grant’s Lounge. Known for his dynamic performances, as well as performign with artists like Gregg Allman, Bonnie Raitt, and Robbie Robertson, this show is likely to be part of an unforgettable night for many. MUSIC: Lauren Watkins Featuring McCoy Moore at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-2:30 a.m.)

Josh Terry Honky Tonk Night presents Big Loud Records artist Lauren Watkins, recognized by CMT and Apple Music, as she brings her country flair to Macon. Opening the show is McCoy Moore, known for his recent single “Something to You.” Tickets will be available at the door day of the show or online at this link for $16.30.

SATURDAY, April 26th

Rebuilding Macon Benefit Day at the Big Peach Car Wash (7 a.m.)

Support Rebuilding Macon with every car wash at Big Peach Car Wash this Saturday. For each wash, $3 will be donated to the nonprofit dedicated to home repairs for low-income homeowners (additional donations are welcome).

There will be Community Yard Sale at Andrew Church on Saturday. Expect all kinds of items, from appliances to tyos to be on sale at this event.

Drop in Photo Sessions for Dog Mamas at Pet Supplies Plus (10 a.m.-12 p.m.)

ALC Macon’s First Annual Car Show (10 a.m.)

Middle Georgians are encouraged to shine up your rides and head to ALC Macon for their First Annual Car Show. Car lovers and casual spectators alike are invited to enjoy an exciting day of classic, muscle, and custom vehicles, along with a chance to win trophies in four categories, including Best in Show and Best Paint. Registration is just $20 per vehicle, and a 50/50 giveaway means one lucky attendee takes home half the pot. Limited spots are available, so register early to showcase your wheels.

Greek Spring Fling at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church (11 a.m.)

MUSIC: The Gift to Sing - Choral Society of Middle Georgia and Mercer University Choir (4 p.m.)

Let the powerful voices of the Choral Society of Middle Georgia and Mercer University Choir uplift your spirit with The Gift to Sing. This moving performance celebrates the beauty of song and features pianist McKinley Starks. Conducted by Dr. Gary Gerber, it’s the final Choral Society concert of the school year. Breathe + Be: A New Moon Breathwork Workshop at Tanglewood Art Studios (3-5 p.m.)

Ground yourself with a restorative breathwork and meditation session at Tanglewood Art Studios. Set under the energy of the new moon, this outdoor workshop includes guided pranayama, yoga nidra, and reflection with tea.
