Adventures in the Heart of Georgia: Things to Do this Week in Macon and Greater Middle Georgia

There will be more opportunities to take part in a wide range of unique and often free adventures for families and friends during the next few days including a free heavy metal show at Central City Park, a unique speed dating event, and a three-day long Memorial Day Float from Float Daze. The following is just a small selection of the interesting and exciting things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.


THURSDAY, May 22nd

MUSIC: Alphonso Thomas and Tari Purcell “Unplugged” at Churchills on Cherry (8-10 p.m.)

Alphonso Thomas and Tari Purcell will perform once again at Churchill's on Cherry this Thursday night. Churchills is an upscale cigar lounge where guests can enjoy savory cigars, drinks, appetizers, and plenty of ambiance.

FRIDAY, May 23rd

Paint and Sip on the Lawn at La’Vino Wine Bar in Warner Robins (7 p.m.)

La’ Vino Wine Bar will present its first Paint and Sip of 2025 on Friday. Tickets for La’Vino Paint and Sip cost $45 online at this link.

MUSIC: The Raspy Lemons at Kudzu Seafood Company (7 p.m.)

The Raspy Lemons will be performing a mix of unique original songs and classic covers on Kudzu's upstairs bar, The Wheelhouse, on Friday evening.

Fall Line’s Summer Movie Series “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (8 p.m.)

Fall Line Brewing Co. will start its Summer Movie Series with a screening of the cult 80’s comedy “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” on Friday. The movie will be shown on a big, outdoor screen in the parking lot across the street from the brewery. Guests are invited to bring lawn or bean bag chairs and blankets for comfort during this family-friendly, free event. “High School Musical 2” (June 27th) and “Moana” (July 25th) will also be shown during Fall Line’s Summer Movie Series this year.

MUSIC: The Ride or Die Tour featuring Savannah Dexter and Brabo Gator at The Capitol Theatre (8 p.m.)

The Ride or Die Tour will feature country music artists Savannah Dexter and Brabo Gator with Justin Time this Friday night at The Capitol Theatre. Dexter is known for her entrepreneurship through her clothing line and record label, EmpoHER Records, as well as her large social media following. Brabo Gator is Dexter’s husband and attendees should expects soms of the “fire-and-ice duets” the duo are known for, according to The Capitol Theatre. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the music starts at 8 p.m. General admission tickets to see Savannah Dexter, Brabo Gator, and Justin Time cost $32.55 and balcony tickets cost $43.41 online at this link.

MUSIC: Lunar Lighthouse Live EDM Show at Friends on the HILL in Warner Robins (9 p.m.)

If you are looking for a place to dance to electronic dance music (EDM), look no further than the Lunar Lighthouse show at Friends on the HILL on Friday night. DJ Artimatic will provide support during this show, DJ Pickles will put on a dazzling light show, and Court of Miracles will provide both support and vending. There is no cover charge for this show.

SATURDAY, May 24th

Sing and Play with Blippi and Ms. Rachel at Peachy Playtown (10:30-11:30 a.m.)

Beloved children’s characters Blippi and Ms. Rachel will sing, dance, and laugh with toddlers and preschoolers at Peachy Playtown on Saturday. Members of Peachy Playtown will receive free entry to Sing and Play with Blippi and Ms. Rachel while entry for non-members will cost $15 per child.

Peach Season Fun at Lane Southern Orchards (11 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Elsa and Anna from Disney’s “Frozen” will be at Lane Southern Orchards on Saturday for a meet and greet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors will also be able to dine at food trucks, shop with various arts and crafts vendors, and of course eat plenty of sweet peaches. There is no cover charge for this event.

Statehouse Square Walking Tour in Milledgeville (10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)

Milledgeville's Statehouse is a fascinating place to visit for those interested in history and architecture. The tour begins at the Milledgeville Visitor Center and then travels by trolley, affectionately named Milly the Trolley, to the Statehouse Square and the Old State Capitol Building. Visitors will be educated about the Old State Capitol Building’s House Chamber and Legislative Lobby and hear stories about Milledgeville’s “Liberty Tree, the original northern and southern gates, the slave market,” and more, according to the organizer. The walking tour will last about an hour and is limited to 12 guests per tour. Tickets are $12 per person and you can reserve your spot by calling (478) 452-4687.

MUSIC: GMO Productions presents Kaiju GA, Hollow God, Of Ancients, and more at Central City Park (12 p.m.)

GMO Productions returns to Central City Skatepark for another heavy metal concert on Saturday. The bands scheduled to perform include Kaiju GA, Hollow God, and Of Ancients with support from Buried Within, Forget Your Name, and Years Of Sorrow. This all ages live music show is free to attend.

MUSIC: Songs with Friends - A Macon Pops Sing-Along Concert at the Museum of Arts and Sciences (6 p.m.)

"Songs with Friends" is a Macon Pops Sing-Along Concert that will take place at the Museum of Arts and Sciences on Saturday. The band will perform everything from the classics to popular hits during this outdoor concert. Guests are invited to bring food and drinks along with their singing voices. General admission tickets cost $30, tickets for kids ages 6 to 12 cost $10, and tickets for kids 5 and under are free at this link.

Dream Ridez Car Meet at Robins Racing (7 p.m.)

Robins Racing is hosting the Dream Ridez Car Meet this Saturday for Remote Control cars. Robins Racing is a remote control car hobby shop that allows customers to drive their mini Z, drift car, or crawler vehicles inside the shop on a rental basis.

Middle Georgia Speed Dating in Warner Robins (7-9 p.m.)

Lasting Moments Formal Wear is hosting another Middle Georgia Speed Dating on Saturday. These speed dating events take place on Saturday nights. This concert will feature music from the band Jeremy Would Let Me Drown, an Atlanta-based band that pays tribute to Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. Float Daze’s 10th Annual Memorial Day Float at Amerson River Park (5/24-5/26) (8 a.m.-8 p.m.)

Float Daze’s 10th Annual Memorial Day Float isn’t just about the float: it is also about cleaning up the beautiful Ocmulgee River. The Memorial Day Float starts on Saturday and takes place through Monday. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

Glassblowing Vase Experience at stARTup Studios (3-5 p.m.)

stARTup Studios will teach adventurous creatives in Middle Georgia how to make a stylish small vase on Sunday. Attendees will learn about using professional glassblowing tools and techniques.
