Downtown Macon’s restaurants and bakeries are rolling out their sweetest creations this summer as the city’s annual The Great Macon Baking Week and the Dessert Passport Trail returns on Monday, July 15.

Launched in partnership with Macon Magazine, the Great Macon Baking Week encourages visitors and residents to explore the Downtown Macon while sampling signature desserts at more than a dozen local establishments. In return, participants collect passport stamps at each stop for a chance to win prizes with the Dessert Passport Trail and vote for their favorite dessert to crown this year’s champion.

Passports can be picked up at the Macon Downtown Visitors Center or any of the participating businesses.

This year’s lineup includes both longtime local favorites and newer establishments, offering a range of treats from traditional Southern desserts to contemporary takes on classics. Among the creative dessert items being offered this year are the banana pudding cake from Dawson’s Kitchen, red velvet bundtlets from Nothing Bundt Cakes, and a peach upside down cake with vanilla buttercream and sugar cookie crumble from Acres & Oak Kitchen.

For fans of bread pudding, Satterfield’s is offering a Texas toast bread pudding with caramel sauce, while Natalia’s features a version with bananas foster. Kinjo adds its own twist with a mandarin whisky bread pudding.

Other sweet highlights include:

  • Key Lime Pie at Macon Bagels

  • Peaches & Cream Cake from Layers

  • Cracked Pie at Dovetail

  • Strawberry Matcha Bars from Village Coffee

  • Flourless Chocolate Torte Cake at Taste and See

  • Whipped Banana Pudding Cups from Sweet Eleanor’s
