Many Middle Georgians will be gathering around beautiful Christmas trees like the ones on display at Macon's Museum of Arts and Sciences on Christmas Day this Thursday (Photographer Nate Weeks)


Whether you want to take pictures with Santa or Krampus, play some music bingo, sing Christmas songs on Christmas Eve, or skip the cleanup after dinner on Christmas Day, there are plenty of adventures to choose from this week. The following are just a few of the unique, fun, and often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.


MONDAY, December 22nd

  >> Photos with Santa at Houston County Galleria (12/22-12/24) (11 a.m.-6 p.m.)

You can get some shopping in and take pictures with the man in the red suit at Houston County Galleria from Monday through Wednesday this week. Houston County Galleria has more than 40 stores, including Bath & Body Works, Claire’s, Aeropostale, Belk, JCPenney, Spencers Gifts, American Eagle, and Victoria’s Secret. This festive family-friendly event is free to attend.

  >> Public Skating at Macon Coliseum (2, 4, 6, 8 p.m.)

The Macon Coliseum, home of the Macon Mayhem, presents one-hour sessions of public skating every day this week except on Thursday, Christmas Day. After this week, there are plenty of other chances to hit the ice in the Macon Coliseum until March 1st, 2026. Tickets to skate cost $12.35 on ticketmaster.com.

  >> SHOPPING: The Holiday Show 2025 at Macon Arts Alliance. Macon Arts Alliance’s The Holiday Show 2025 ends this Tuesday. Shoppers can find unique gifts made of ceramic, glass, and wood, as well as stationery, small paintings, and more.

TUESDAY, December 23rd

  >> MUSIC: Celtic Christmas with Kinnfolk at Wesley UMC (5 p.m.)

Wesley United Methodist Church will host an evening of traditional Celtic folk music from Kinnfolk, a husband and wife music duo made up of Josh and Julie Kinn. The Kinns will mix octave mandolin, Irish drum (bodhrán), and vocal harmonies with popular festive songs. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

Kinnfolk recently released the official music video for their first holiday track "A Wintertime Feast"


Krampus at Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen

There is a rumor going around that Krampus, the horned mythical being from Central European folklore who punishes naughty children, will be visiting Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen on Tuesday. While no official time has been announced when this daunting character will be on hand, it is claimed he may feel generous enough to take some pictures with patrons courageous enough to approach him.

WEDNESDAY, December 24th

CHRISTMAS EVE

  >> Christmas Eve Service at New City Church (5:30 p.m.)

Macon’s New City Church will present a Christmas Eve Service on Wednesday that will include singing, hot chocolate, and a retelling of the Christmas story. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

  >> MUSIC: Music Bingo with Pickles at Tap and Pour (6-9 p.m.)

DJ Pickles hosts another family-friendly night of music bingo at Tap and Pour on Wednesday. The winner gets to spin a wheel to determine their prize and can win gift cards, free beer, free food, and more. This weekly event is free to attend.

  >> MUSIC: Music Bingo at The Patio at Rigby’s (7:30-8:30 p.m.)

Wednesday night seems to be the night for Music Bingo in Warner Robins this week, with events taking place at Tap and Pour and The Patio at Rigby’s. Some of the themed Music Bingo rounds will be for those 18 and older, but those will be announced in advance, according to Rigby’s. Music Bingo takes place at The Patio at Rigby’s every Wednesday night and is free to attend.

THURSDAY, December 25th

CHRISTMAS DAY

  >> Christmas Day Celebration at Hotel Forty Five’s Loom Comfort Kitchen & Cocktails (5-10 p.m.)

Hotel Forty Five’s restaurant Loom will celebrate Christmas Day with a family-style meal that will include plenty of “comforting seasonal dishes and elevated Southern flavors.” Entree options include Southern Coq Au Vin Blanc, Herb-Crusted Leg of Lamb, and Pan-Roasted Salmon, while diners can enjoy a dessert of Banana Pudding Pound Cake.
