There are many unique things to do this week in Middle Georgia, whether you are a parent, a child, a business owner, or just someone looking for entertainment. Adventures include another free night of storytelling on Tuesday from Storytellers Macon at Grant's Lounge, a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Milledgeville's Seeking Asylum Photography, a chance to meet Iditarod racer Karen Land and her very fast dog Sophia, and much more. The following are just a few of the fun, unique, and often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.

  >> MONDAY, January 12th

iStroll Macon’s January Fresh Start at Henry Burns Park (9:30-11 a.m.)

iStroll Macon's is offering free workouts from Monday through Friday this week. iStroll, LLC offers stroller workout and social network for moms and dads. Attendees will meet at Henry Burns Park and Amerson River Park throughout the week for 60-minute workouts that can be done with a stroller and kids. The workout on Monday will take place at Henry Burns Park, but the rest of the workouts will take place at Amerson River Park.   >> HEALTH: Macon Volunteer Clinic’s Know Your Numbers: How to Control Your Cholesterol Health Education Class (5:15-6:15 p.m.)

A Piedmont Macon health professional will be teaching about controlling cholesterol numbers, heart health, and more this week at Macon Volunteer Clinic. This class is free and open to the public. Register for the Know Your Numbers health education class at this link.

  >> BIKING: Dauset Trails Mountain Bike Ride with Trek Bicycle McDonough (7 p.m.)

Trek Bicycle McDonough is hosting a mountain bike ride at Dauset Trails to start the new year right this Monday night. Bicyclists will ride 10 to 15 miles at a casual pace at Dauset Trails, whose bike trails are open until 10 p.m. Lights are required for this event since it takes place after sunset. This unique bicycling event is free to attend.

TUESDAY, January 13th

  >> Audition Workshop at the W.E. Knox Civic Center (5:30 p.m.)

The Jones County Arts organization invites actors aged 8 to 18 to attend an audition workshop at the W.E. Knox Civic Center this Tuesday. Attendees will receive tips and get a chance to practice an audition, and are asked to bring sheet music and prepare a song if participating in the mock auditions. This event is free and open to the public.

  >> Storytellers Macon presents “New Shoes” at Grant’s Lounge (6:30-8:30 p.m.)

Storytellers will stand on the historic stage at Grant’s Lounge and tell true stories this Tuesday as part of Storytellers Macon’s “New Shoes.” The theme for the stories on Tuesday will deal with situations that were similar to the experience of wearing new shoes, from the discomfort of a new job to the unfamiliarity of a new relationship. The featured storyteller for the evening will be Asha Ellen, the Executive Director of Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful. Anyone can sign up to tell their own 5-minute story at this link or at the start of the event. These stories will be uncensored, so not recommended for immature audiences. Storytellers Macon’s New Shoes is free and open to the public.

WEDNESDAY, January 14th

  >> HEALTH: Antebellum Grove’s 1st Annual Health and Wellness Fair (11 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Antebellum Grove, a retirement and assisted living facility in Warner Robins, will be hosting a Health and Wellness Fair for citizens of Houston County and Middle Georgia this Wednesday. Attendees will receive free health screenings and education about health and wellness topics, as well as be able to take part in raffles and win prizes and giveaways. This event is free and open to the public.

  >> Onelife Fitness Macon Ribbon Cutting with the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce (2 p.m.)

The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce invites the Middle Georgia public to celebrate the opening of Onelife Fitness Macon at a ribbon cutting ceremony this Wednesday. Onelife Fitness is a gym with locations all along the East Coast. The gym features 50,000 square feet of space and includes a pool, sauna, and more. This ribbon-cutting event is free and open to the public.

  >> Seeking Asylum Photography Ribbon Cutting and Open House at Georgia’s Old Capital Heritage Center at the Depot (3:30 p.m.)

The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce will present a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house at Seeking Asylum Photography this Wednesday. The Seeking Asylum Photography gallery contains photographs of the campus of the massive Central State Hospital taken by award-winning photographer Jessica Whitehead. Central State Hospital accepted its first patient in December 1842 and was the largest mental health hospital in the world in the 1960s. Its campus is spread over two thousand acres and includes around 200 buildings. This event is free and open to the public.

  >> Iditarod Racer Karen Land at the Washington Memorial Library (6 p.m.)

Iditarod racer, writer, and public speaker Karen Land will give a talk about sled racing, sled dogs, and more this Wednesday at Macon’s Washington Memorial Library. One of her sled dogs, Sophia, will also be on hand but will not be taking questions from the audience. The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is a 938-mile race that takes place in Alaska. Teams of racers often contend with blizzards, whiteout conditions, and winds that cause wind chill temperatures of -100 degrees. Land and Sophia will appear at Macon’s Shurling Library on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. These unique events are free and open to the Middle Georgia public.

THURSDAY, January 15th

  >> MUSIC: Third Thursday Interlude with Organist JooSoo Son Kim at MUSIC: St. Joseph Catholic Church (12:30 p.m.)

Organist JooSoo Son Kim will perform in the beautiful St. Joseph Catholic Church this Thursday as part of the church’s Third Thursday Interlude. The historic church features 60 stained glass windows, a white Carrara marble altar and pulpit, and an organ with 1,000 pipes, according to Wikipedia. This event is free and open to the public.

  >> Business After Hours at Forsyth Antiques and More (5 p.m.)

Forsyth Antiques and More will host the Forsyth-Monroe Chamber of Commerce’s first Business After Hours of 2026 this Thursday. This networking event is a great way to meet other local professionals, find out about business trends, and promote your business. This event is free to attend.

  >> MUSIC/DANCE: A Taste of Ireland at the Piedmont Grand Opera House (7:30-9:30 p.m.)

The Off-Broadway production A Taste of Ireland is touring the United States from January through March this year. Former World Irish dance champions and dancers from Lord of the Dance and Riverdance will dance, tell stories from the Emerald Isle, and entertain audience members in the Piedmont Grand Opera House with wit and humor this Thursday evening.
