This weekend includes markets, special events, live music, and much more for the adventurous to enjoy. Music fans have plenty to be excited about this week, including the 3rd annual Mulberries Jam and a performance by Giant DeNiro at Amici Macon. The following are just a few of the fun, interesting, and often free things to do this weekend in the heart of Georgia.
FRIDAY, May 15th
>> Milly Market in Milledgeville (4-7 p.m.)
Shoppers can find homemade jams, popsicles, photography prints, seasonal veggies and fruits, baked goods, honey, mushrooms, and more at the Milly Market this Friday, while listening to live music. The Milly Market takes place on the first and third Fridays of each month.

>> Markiewitz Audioworks presents A Poe Premiere Event in Milledgeville (6-8 p.m.)
Award-winning voice actor Jason Markiewitz will lead a full cast of other voice actors in a dramatic reading of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death” in Milledgeville on Friday night. Poe published “The Masque of the Red Death” in 1842, and it follows Prince Prospero as he attempts to stay safe from the Red Death, a plague, in his abbey, where he and other wealthy nobles host a masquerade ball in 7 of the abbey’s differently colored rooms. This unique event is described as immersive audio theatre by the organizer. Tickets to A Poe Premier Event: The Masque of the Red Death” are free, but seats are limited, so reserve yours at this link.

>> MAGIC: Illusionist Evan Dupree and More at the Georgia JugFest in Roberta (6 p.m.)
Middle Georgia’s Evan Dupree will be presenting “a magic show with a gospel message at the Georgia Jugfest in Roberta on Friday evening. Tickets to this unique performance by illusionist Evan Dupree are $6 for everyone 13 and older and free for everyone younger and can be purchased at this link.
> Crawford County Theater for the Performing Arts: 190 E. Crusselle Street, Roberta
>> MUSIC: 3rd Annual Mulberries Jam and Record Release at Vice Bar in Macon (6:29-11:59 p.m.)
The 3rd annual Mulberries Jam will include a birthday set for Robert Lee Coleman and Dustin Murdock’s birthdays, performances from several local bands, including the Raspy Lemons, Cutway & Company, Macon Noise, and Grassfed, and an album release set by Truffelina. The band Truffelina is described as an indie/experimental/chillout/freakout band from Macon formed in 2009 on the band’s Bandcamp webpage. There is no cover for this music-filled event.

>> MUSIC: Payton Sassaman & Friends at The Society Garden in Macon (8 p.m.)
Some of Macon’s talented acts will be performing at Macon’s The Society Garden this Friday. The Society Garden is a popular live music venue and beer garden, and patrons with kids in tow will appreciate the improvements to the play area at the venue. Sassaman is a musically talented former AMA Pro Road Racer who is as comfortable on a stage as he is on a speeding motorcycle. There will be a $10 cover at the gate for this show.

The Maple Street Band will perform at Downtown Macon’s The Hummingbird from Friday night, and early into Saturday morning. This four-piece rock band from Saint Simons Island was formed in 2024. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover at the door for this show.

SATURDAY, May 16th
>> Georgia Jug Festival and Old Knoxville Days Festival in Knoxville (9 a.m.)
The Georgia Jug Festival and Old Knoxville Days Festival will feature a pottery sale and auction, a 5k and Fun Run, a car show, an antique tractor parade, a kids' area, craft demonstrations, food, and entertainment. Crawford County has a long history of families devoted to the creation of pottery. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

>> 6th Annual Crawfish Festival in Dublin (12-9 p.m.)
The 6th annual Crawfish Festival will include a crawfish dinner, kids’ zone, food and arts and crafts vendors, music from several Middle Georgia music acts, including Trombone Love, Macon Sound, and Dean Brown and Dub Shak, and more. This music-filled event is $25 for the festival and crawfish dinner, $15 for the festival only for those 13 and up, $10 for kids 5 to 12, and free for kids under 5.
> W. Jackson Street, Dublin
>> MUSIC: Giant DeNiro at Amici Macon (8 p.m.)
Giant DeNiro is an experimental rock band from Milledgeville who will perform on the rooftop at Amici Macon this Saturday evening. Patrons at Amici can feast on pizza, wings, and more while enjoying the tunes from Giant DeNiro. There is no cover for this show.

>> COMEDY: “Saturday Night Laughs” Comedy Show at The Daisy Tequila Bar in Macon (9 p.m.)
Talk Nerdy To Me will present an evening of standup comedy at Downtown Macon’s The Daisy Tequila Bar on Saturday night. KT will headline with sets from Iceberg Banks, Dexter Jr., and Vic during “Saturday Night Laughs”. Tickets cost $10 at the door for those 18 and older and $5 for those 21 and older, and seating is limited.

Country music artist Thomas Guest will perform at The Hummingbird on Saturday night. This show is for patrons 18 and older. Guest was born and raised in Macon and has been influenced by musicians from a wide range of genres, including hip-hop, gospel, and southern rock. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover at the door for this show.

SUNDAY, May 17th
>> Sing Along Brunch: The 90’s Edition at Switch Macon (12-4 p.m.)
Downtown Macon’s Switch Macon, a themed drinking establishment, will present a 90’s Edition Sing-Along Brunch. Switch Macon’s theme changes throughout the year and only recently transformed into a creative tribute to the 90’s with a DJ playing 90’s hits, sing-alongs, games with prizes, brunch offerings, and more. The Sing Along Brunch: The 90’s Edition is currently shown as sold out online.

>> Wildflower Wonder at Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla (1-2 p.m.)
Indian Springs State Park’s naturalist will give a presentation on different wildlife species during Wildflower Wonder on Sunday afternoon. Attendees will also be able to take part in a related craft. This family-friendly event is free to attend, though there is a parking fee at the park.

>> Movie ("Ratatouille") and a Meal at Longleaf Distilling Co. in Macon (6 p.m.)
Guests at Longleaf Distilling Co. will enjoy a “cozy French dinner party…with five themed courses and five handcrafted cocktail pairings” while watching the 2007 Pixar film “Ratatouille” on Sunday evening. This 21 and up event has limited seating, mocktail/designated driver ticket options, and tickets can be purchased at this link.
> Longleaf Distilling Co.: 664 2nd Street, Macon
>> MUSIC: Frank/ie Consent and O3D at Fresh Produce Records in Macon (7 p.m.)
Musical acts Frank/ie Consent (Atlanta) and O3D will perform at Downtown Macon’s Fresh Produce Records this Sunday. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. There is a $10 cover for this show.

>> Sunday, May 24th: Queens of Country at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon (6 p.m.): Macon Pops will present a “tribute to the legendary ladies of country music” at Queens of Country next Sunday.
