This week in Middle Georgia includes many events for those looking for adventures, from a night of yoga for friends on Monday, to a celebration of the music of Gregg Allman on Thursday. Other noteworthy events include when Storytellers Macon brings storytelling to iconic Grant's Lounge on Tuesday and two nights of baseball this week when the Macon Bacon take on the Forest City Owls. The following are just a few of the interesting, unique, often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.


MONDAY, June 8th

  >> YOGA: Better Together: Best Friends Day Partner Yoga at Wellness Hug in Macon (7-8 p.m.)

Celebrate National Best Friends Day on Monday evening at Wellness Hug with Shanteria Lowe’s Better Together Partner Hatha Yoga class, which is “designed to build trust, communication, balance, and community through shared movement and breath.” This class will include beginner-friendly partner poses, stretching, grounding practices, and more. TUESDAY, June 9th

  >> GTC Houston Lakes Cinemas’ 2026 Summer Kid Show Series “Smurfs” (2026) in Warner Robins (6/9 & 6/11) (9:15 a.m.)

GTC Houston Lakes Cinemas 2026 Summer Kid Show Series continues on Tuesday and Thursday this week with a screening of Paramount Pictures’ adventure comedy “Smurfs”. 2025's "The Smurfs" stars Rihanna as the voice of Smurfette and was based on “The Smurfs” comic book series and a reboot of “The Smurfs” film series. Admission, popcorn, drinks, and M&Ms will each cost $2 for this special kid-friendly event: purchase tickets at this link.

  >> Storytellers Macon presents Heated Rivalry at Grant’s Lounge (6:30-8:30 p.m.)

Storytellers Macon presents another unique evening of storytelling on a theme at historic Grant’s Lounge on Tuesday evening. The theme for the true stories, Heated Rivalry, will be “relationships where the tension is part of the fun.” Socials start at 6:30 p.m., and the storytelling starts at 7 p.m. Anyone who wants to tell their own 5-minute story about relationships that challenged, surprised, or changed them is encouraged to sign up to tell their own stories at this link. There is no cover charge for the storytelling event.

WEDNESDAY, June 10th

  >> Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Hilton Garden Inn at Mercer University in Macon (2 p.m.)

The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Hilton Garden Inn at Mercer University this Wednesday. The Hilton Garden Inn brand began in the late 80s under the name CrestHill by Hilton, but has grown from 4 hotels to more than 800 in around 25 years.

  >> BASEBALL: Macon Bacon v. Forest City Owls at Luther Williams Field (6/10-6/11) (7 p.m.)

The Macon Bacon baseball team will face off against North Carolina’s Forest City Owls on Wednesday and Thursday of this week in Luther Williams Field. On Thursday, the game’s theme will be Halloween Night and Happy Hour. Tickets to either Macon Bacon game this week start at $15 on the Macon Bacon’s website.

THURSDAY, June 11th

  >> SOCCER: FIFA World Cup Watch Party at Ocmulgee Brewpub in Macon (3-9 p.m.)

The 23rd FIFA World Cup takes place from June 11th through July 19th, and Ocmulgee Brewpub wants to be Macon’s World Cup Watch Party Headquarters for the occasion. Patrons at Ocmulgee Brewpub will watch games on the restaurant’s many flat screens while enjoying food specials and getting a chance to win a FIFA swag prize pack during every visit. There is no cover charge for this event.

  >> BIKING: Bike Walk Macon’s Honky Tonk Slow Roll (6-8 p.m.)

Join Bike Walk Macon’s latest Macon Bike Party when the Honky Tonk Slow Roll rides through Macon’s industrial side while enjoying a soundtrack of honky tonk music. These Bike Walk Macon events invite bikers of all ages and skills to take part in slow-paced bicycle rides. There is no charge to take part in this unique biking event.

  >> MUSIC: Laid Back: The Music of Gregg Allman at The Robins Financial Capitol Theatre in Macon (10 p.m.)

The screening for “Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul” is sold out, but there are still tickets available for Laid Back: The Music of Gregg Allman, featuring performances from Peter Levin, Grammy-nominated keyboardist for Gregg Allman’s band, along with Macon’s JB Strauss. Macon Magazine will also celebrate the release of its annual Macon Magazine Music issue. There is a $15 cover charge for this music-filled event.

  >> SATURDAY, June 13th: Middle Georgia Oddities Chaos and Catnip Market at the Reverb Room in Warner Robins (12-6 p.m.): This art market will help benefit a Middle Georgia animal rescue, Kitty City Cat Rescue, and feature over 20 of “Georgia’s weirdest artists.” Entry costs $3 or a cat food/toy donation for Kitty City Cat Rescue. (1758 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins)
