The adventurous can visit a photography exhibit, attend a unique event about Nancy Drew, compete in trivia, and see the latest expansion of the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail in beautiful Amerson River Park this week. Music lovers have a tough choice between the Goo Goo Dolls with Neon Tree and The Wood Brothers this Thursday in Macon. The following are just a few of the fun, interesting, and often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.
MONDAY, August 24th
>> BOOKS: Nancy Drew Confidential at Washington Memorial Park in Macon (5:30 p.m.)
Local Nancy Drew expert Paige Henson will hold the second Nancy Drew Confidential at Washington Memorial Park on Monday. The Nancy Drew series, about a young junior detective who figures things out for herself, was ghostwritten by different authors using the pseudonym Carolyn Keene. News columnist and writer Paige Henson will entertain attendees with the mysteries she has solved through her research into the juvenile detective series. Monday’s event is the second of three discussions about the Nancy Drew book series. This family-friendly event series is free to attend.

>> ART: Middle Georgia Art Association’s Annual Photography Exhibit (8/21-9/12)
The Middle Georgia Art Association (MGAA) will be exhibiting its annual photography exhibit through September 12th. MGAA is a non-profit organization that sponsors exhibits, festivals, art classes, scholarships, and education programs, according to visitmacon.org. This photography exhibit is open to the public.

WEDNESDAY, August 26th
>> TRIVIA: 1980’s Trivia at RondeVu Bar & Grill in Warner Robins (7 p.m.)
OutLoud Jeff will host an evening of trivia all about the ‘80s on Wednesday at RondeVu, a bar and grill that hosts sports events, private parties, cookouts, and more. There is no charge to play 1980’s Trivia.

THURSDAY, August 27th
>> Ribbon Cutting: Amerson River Park North Ocmulgee Heritage Trail Extension (9:30 a.m.)
Amerson River Park is a beautiful park that has recently gained newly paved trails with the North Ocmulgee Heritage Trail expansion. The expansion includes a new paved parking lot for vehicles of kayakers, floaters, and exercise buffs. NewTown Macon, Bike Walk Macon, and Macon-Bibb County leaders will present the ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to organizers. Attendees should make the first left once inside Amerson River Park to get to the park’s Jay Hall North River Access. This community event is free and open to the public.

The Goo Goo Dolls will perform at Macon’s Atrium Health Amphitheater on Thursday evening. The Neon Trees will open the show. The Goo Goo Dolls had hits like “Name” and “Iris” that led to their mainstream success in the 1990s, while the Neon Trees are best known for the band’s 2010 debut single “Animal.” Tickets for this concert currently start at $50 on ticketmaster.com.
> The Douglass Theatre: 428 Mulberry Street Lane, Macon
>> MUSIC: The Wood Brothers at The Capitol Theatre in Macon (8 p.m.)
The Wood Brothers are a folk band made up of two brothers, Chris and Oliver Wood, and drummer Jano Rix. The band has put out nine studio albums and recently released “Puff of Smoke” on August 1st, according to macon365.com. Tickets to this concert start at $51 on tixr.com.

>> FRIDAY, August 28th and SATURDAY, August 29th: MUSIC: Road to Wartown and Wartown Showcase 2026 at Reverb Room and VFW Post 6605 (12 p.m.): Heavy music fans will gather at Warner Robins’ Reverb Room this Friday and at VFW Post 6605 this Saturday for two nights of shows from local hardcore bands.
