This week middle Georgia residents will have a chance to get a job at the brand new Hotel 45, wear your ugliest Christmas sweater while bike riding through downtown Macon, laugh at some quality comedians, enjoy some funky music, and much more.

Monday, December 6th

2021 Main Street Christmas Light Extravaganza (6 p.m. - 10 p.m.)

Visitors to downtown Macon can walk or drive through over half a million lights and displays that are synched up to music by the Macon Pops. There are four different shows beginning on the hour from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Tuesday, December 7th

Job Fair for Hotel Forty Five (2 - 6 p.m.)

The Historic Macon Foundation and Hotel Forty Five will be hosting a two day Job Fair on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. The job positions that this job fair will be hiring for will range from part-time to full-time positions and include supervisory roles. Hotel 45 opens its doors in early 2022. You can learn more about the job positions being offered at this link. The Job Fair will take place in the Historic Macon Foundation Community Room located at 338 Poplar Street in Macon.

$8 Skating and Bowling Games at Rigby’s in Warner Robins (4 - 10 p.m.)

Rigby’s Entertainment Complex runs a special on Tuesdays where you can either skate or bowl for only $8. Rigby’s is located at 2001 Karl Drive in Warner Robins.

Music Therapy - Live at JBA ( 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.)

The therapeutic benefits of music are known around the world. This interactive event hosted by Joe Palmer, Marcus Reddick, and Kenny Ray Williams invites you to bring your own instruments to JBA to jam with other middle Georgia musicians. JBA is located at 499 MLK Jr. Boulevard in Macon.

Wednesday, December 8th

Fabian Concert Series: December Delights (7:30 - 9:30 p.m.)

Mercer University - Townsend School of Music hosts an evening of magical music by such great composers like Antonín Dvořák. This concert is part of the 2021-22 Fabian Concert Series. James Ehnes, a Grammy award winning violinist and several other very talented musicians will perform during this event. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at this link.

Thursday, December 9th

Macon Bike Party - Ugly Sweater Ride (6 - 8 p.m.)

Bike Walk Macon hosts this “slow-paced community bicycle ride”. Attendees are asked to dress in your ugliest Christmas sweater and festive attire to enjoy a ride through downtown Macon to enjoy the holiday light show. Riders will need to bring a helmet for this event and meet at Bike Walk Macon’s office at 830 High Street at 6 p.m.

Clockwork Comedy Presents Will Foskey (8 - 11 p.m.)

Grant’s Lounge will host Clockwork Comedy’s latest show. Will Foskey will headline this event and is a comedian from Woodstock, Georgia. Foskey was recently named one of Just for Laughs’ “New Faces of Comedy”. Just for Laughs describes him as the Pete Davidson you can afford. There will also be fresh comedy served from Khaled Elchoufi, Patrick Cunningham, and others. Tickets for this event are $10 and can be purchased either at this link or at the venue. Friday, December 10th

Holiday Plant and Bake Sale (10 a.m.)

The Home of The Federated Garden Clubs of Macon invites you to a juried show where you will be able to see many different types of creative plant designs as well as satisfy your sweet tooth with baked goods. This two day event takes place Friday and Saturday at the historic Neel House located at 730 College Street in Macon.

Hasan Elahi: Inversion Closing Reception (4 - 8 p.m.)

The McEachern Art Center hosts Hasan Elahi’s Inversion exhibit's closing reception on Friday. After the artist Hasan Elahi found himself mistakenly under surveillance after 9/11, he began to surveil himself to "convince the Feds of his innocence" (from a Wired article written about Elahi’s experience). Elahi began to track his every action, taking pictures of every place he went, posting receipts for his purchases online, and even tracking his GPS locations. Attendees will be able to see some of the many photos he took as well as hear the artist speak at the closing reception for this exhibit. McEachern Art Center is located at 332 2nd Street in Macon.

The Nutcracker of Middle Georgia at the Grand Opera House (7:30 p.m.)

Attending a performance of a Nutcracker of Middle Georgia show is a tradition for many middle Georgia families and tickets for this event sell out quickly. The Nutcracker of Middle Georgia is made up of volunteers and include performances by local children as well as professional ballet dancers from distant cities like Miami. There are four scheduled showings with one show Friday night, two on Saturday (2:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.), and the final show on Sunday (2:30 p.m.) Tickets were previously available for purchase at this link though they may already be sold out by now. The Grand Opera House is located at 651 Mulberry Street in Macon.

Saturday, December 11th

Christmas in Downtown Macon (12 - 4 p.m.)

NewTown Macon and Downtown Macon will host this event which will include photos with Jolly Saint Nick, ornament painting, and more. The organizers describe this event as middle Georgia's "largest Christmas festival". There will also be a Holiday Market with many local vendors selling everything from art to soap made from goat milk.

Native American Games at the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park (2 - 2:30 p.m.)

This interactive activity for kids teaches them how to play two games that the Mississipians who once lived around the area “played 1,000 years ago”. Attendees will meet at the green space near the visitor center parking lot. The Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park is located at 1207 Emery Highway in Macon.

Grand Opening of Triangle Arts Macon (6:30 - 9:30 p.m.)

Triangle Arts Macon will have its Grand Opening on Saturday evening. There will be two bands performing, food trucks, an art gallery opening, a live painting by the very talented Kevin Lewis, and more. Triangle Arts Macon is located at 206 Lower Elm Street in Macon.

Mothers Finest at Hargray Capitol Theatre (8 p.m.)

This band formed in the 1970s and they have the funky sound to prove it. Their most popular songs included "Fire", "Baby Love”, and the very catchy "Piece of the Rock”. Tickets for this event start at $25 and can be purchased at this link. Hargray Capitol Theatre is located at 382 2nd Street in Macon.

Public Ice Skating at the Macon Centreplex (9 p.m.)

The Macon Centreplex will allow the public to ice skate after the Macon Mayhem game starting at approximately 9 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a pair of socks and to a clear bag for any items being brought into the venue. Tickets for this event cost $7 and the price includes the skate rental. Tickets are available for purchase online at this link or they can be purchased from the Macon Centreplex box office. The Macon Centreplex is located at 200 Coliseum Drive in Macon.

Sunday, December 12th

Public Ice Skating at the Macon Centreplex (4 and 5 p.m.)

The Macon Centreplex will allow the public to ice skate during two hour-long sessions on Sunday. Participants are asked to bring a pair of socks and to a clear bag for any items being brought into the venue. Tickets for this event cost $7 and the price includes the skate rental. Tickets are available for purchase online at this link or they can be purchased from the Macon Centreplex box office. The Macon Centreplex is located at 200 Coliseum Drive in Macon.
