PRESS RELEASE: Visit Macon Celebrates National Travel and Tourism Week with Free License Plates, a Week of Events, Discounts on Macon, Georgia Gear and More
MACON, GA (May 17, 2024) — Visit Macon is hosting a week worth of local events to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week during May 20-25. Visitors and the local community can partake in a variety of events throughout the week that showcase all Macon has to offer.
“We have so much to celebrate this year during National Travel and Tourism week. Our downtown was the recipient of the Great American Main Street Award, and we are one step closer to having the newest National Park and the first National Park in Georgia! So many great things are happening in Macon, and we would like to celebrate with everyone who makes it possible” says Gary Wheat, President and CEO at Visit Macon. “We hope everyone will join us for a week of celebration for Macon, our partners and all of the success we have had thus far!”

Downtown Business Employees and Owners Day – 11am to 2pm at the Macon Downtown Visitor Center (powered by Visit Macon), 450 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. All downtown business owners and employees can stop by to receive free popcorn and a complementary swag bag for your business as a thank you for all they do to keep our downtown thriving.

First Responder Appreciation Day – 9am to 4pm The Macon Downtown Visitor Center will be offering a free sweet treat to all first responders, and have the chance to enter to win a Macon Swag Bag, plus enjoy 25% off retail purchases in our gift shop.

Visit Macon’s SVP & COO, Aaron Buzza, is taking Macon, Georgia to the airwaves in a whole new way! “Talkin’ Macon” is a new podcast promoting Macon through audio-based marketing with a series of candid conversations with industry leaders, visionaries and luminaries that make Macon, Georgia a hidden gem of tourism.
