PRESS RELEASE: Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia Launches Capital Campaign to Rebuild Carl D. Thomas Club

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia (BGCCG) announces the launch of their end of year capital campaign aimed to raise $250,000 to replace and safely secure ten HVAC units that were recently vandalized due to theft. This initiative aims to restore the club and maintain it's role as a place of inspiration and growth for generations to come.

The Carl D. Thomas Club, a critical asset to the community, faced challenges when it's ten HVAC units were vandalized leaving the facility in urgent need of repairs. In light of this, BGCCG has launched this ambitious campaign not just to replace the damaged equipment, but also to improve and safely secure the club's infrastructure for the future.

GEICO Philanthropic Foundation Takes the Lead

BGCCG is delighted to announce that the GEICO Philanthropic Foundation has emerged as the first major contributor to this campaign. With a generous gift of $20,000, GEICO is setting a benchmark for community involvement and support. Their donation represents a vital step toward reaching the campaign's goal and highlights their dedication to nurturing a supportive environment for local youth.

“The Carl D. Thomas Boys & Girls Club isn’t just a building – it’s a cornerstone of hope for our local community,” said Lauren Roan-Parks, Senior Director of GEICO Sales and location leader for Macon. “Its temporary closure has affected us all deeply, from the children who found their second home there to our own employees who have witnessed its transformative impact. This is where dreams take root, where young minds discover their potential and where tomorrow’s leaders first learn to believe in themselves. Our donation is just the first step. We invite other organizations to join us in helping this vital community resource that has shaped so many young lives.”

"We are incredibly thankful to the GEICO Philanthropic Foundation for their prompt and generous contribution," said Phillip Bryant, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia. "Their dedication to our community is truly inspiring, and we hope it motivates other organizations and individuals to unite with us in this important mission."
