PRESS RELEASE: Fall Garden Festival Family Fun Sept. 26
PERRY, GA – The Master Gardeners of Central Georgia (MGCG) will hold its second annual Fall Garden Festival on Sept. 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This event will feature a mum flower sale, vegetables and plant sale, animals, vendors, Kids’ Hands-on Stations, Make-and-Take activities, food booths, bake sale, demonstrations, games, fall gardening tips, Ask a Master Gardener, and more. The event will be held at the University of Georgia Houston County Extension Office in Perry. Admission, parking, and many activities are free.
Free activities include a petting zoo, meditation labyrinth, how to make a butterfly garden, honey bee life cycle demonstration, “Ask a Master Gardener” booth, and more. Interactive stations include creating habitats for garden friends, Oreo cookies moon phases, and a spinning wheel. The Houston County Fire Department will bring a firetruck for “Touch a Truck,” and the Perry Police Department will participate with a cruiser.
Fundraising activities include a mum and plant sale, face painting, T-shirts, silent auction, raffle, food booths, and a dessert bar. Vendors on-site include Money’s Honey; Serenity Farms with fresh milk and heifers; Sip Shack lemonade; Baongoc Succulents and Bonsai; The Royal Gardens; Sweet Everlasting Arbors; Wolf Woman’s Den; Simply Homemade; MAJ Entertainment & Collectibles, and more.
The MGCG Ways and Means Chairman, Jan Jacobsen, commented, “Our goal is community outreach and education for all ages in a fun way. Our focus is to increase awareness about the benefits and joy of gardening while highlighting the nature and characteristics of our garden friends. Our kids’ activities and demonstrations are a must-try! Funds raised will support our scholarships and educational programs.”

The purpose of the event is two-fold:
1. to offer the community an enjoyable way for the entire family to learn about gardening; and
2. a fundraiser to support MGCG scholarships and projects such as community native plant gardens and Jr. Master Gardener in middle Georgia elementary schools.
