Live Music Spotlight in Macon and Middle Georgia this Week

This week in Middle Georgia there will be free concerts, including from the Mercer University Flute Choir and Luther Dickinson, the Allman Betts Family Revival returns to Macon for their annual performance, and much more. The following are just a few of the exciting live performances taking place in the next few days.


THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6

LUTHER DICKINSON AT FRESH PRODUCE RECORDS (6 P.M.)

Patrons at Fresh Produce Records will enjoy a free show from Luther Dickinson on Thursday as he celebrates the release of his new album, Magic Music for Family Folk, with a special in-store performance for the whole family. Luther created this album to keep his kids company while on tour and to share the music he grew up with. The album was recorded at home with family and friends in 2017 and finished in 2023. This family-friendly concert event is free and open to the public.

MERCER UNIVERSITY FLUTE CHOIR PRESENTS FESTIVE FLUTES AT THE TOWNSEND SCHOOL OF MUSIC (7:30 P.M.)

Experience the joy of the holiday season with the Mercer University Flute Choir's performance, featuring both classic favorites and exciting new compositions. Admission is free to this concert.

THE ALLMAN BETTS FAMILY REVIVAL AT THE MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (7:30 P.M.)

It has been 7 years since Devon Allman organized a show at the Fillmore in San Francisco to honor his father Gregg Allman. Featuring Devon Allman, Duane Betts, The Allman Betts Band, and other artists, what began as a one-night event has now turned into a one-night festival that visits 18 to 20 cities every year, including Macon. Tickets to The Allman Betts Family Revival start at $35 on ticketmaster.com.

MIKE AND THE MOONPIES AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 P.M.)

Mike and the Moonpies will perform the final show of their 'Top It Off' Tour at Capitol Theatre with special guest Erin Viancourt this Thursday night. Tickets to see Mike and the Moonpies start at $20 on seetickets.us.

MELODY TRUCKS FEATURING THE TONY TYLER BAND AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9:30 P.M.)

The Allman Betts Family Revival official afterparty will take place at Grant’s Lounge and include performances from Melody Trucks featuring Tony Tyler Band! The doors will open at 8:30 p.m. and the music starts at 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15 on seetickets.us or at the door.



FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7

MACON SOUND AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8:30 P.M.)

One of Macon’s favorite party bands will be playing popular classic songs at The Society Garden on Friday night. There will be a $10 cover charge that will start at 7 p.m.

CHANNING WILSON AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

Country music singer and songwriter Channing Wilson will be performing at Grant’s Lounge Friday evening. Wilson was born in Lafayette, Georgia and recorded his first album Dead Man in the new studio of Dave Cobb (who has produced for Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, and Chris Stapleton). Tickets to hear Channing Wilson perform cost $15 on seetickets.us or at the door.

DJ CL33BO AT JBA (10 P.M.)

DJ cl33bo will be “spinnin’ and grinnin" music with a lot of bass at JBA late Friday night.

BLUE AT 20’S PUB (9 P.M.)

Blue is a pop-punk band from Milledgeville who will be performing at 20’s Pub in Macon on Friday night.


SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8

HUGHES TAYLOR, THE GARRETT COLLINS BAND, AND MT. PILOT! (6 P.M.)

The 6th Annual Murray’s Light fundraising event will include live performances from Hughes Taylor, the Garrett Collins Band, and Mt. Pilot, who will all be rocking out on the Hamrick Building & Supply stage. There will be a cover charge of $15 or $10 if you bring an unwrapped gift to help Murray’s Light with their noble mission of helping Middle Georgia youth.

DREAM TEAM MEMBERS AND OTIS MUSIC CAMP RAP ROOM AT O’TIS THE SEASON AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (7 P.M.)

The Otis Redding Center for the Arts will have their annual O’TIS the Season fundraiser on Saturday with special guest Ceelo Green of Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley. Tickets start at $30 on seetickets.us.

DIRTY DANCING IN CONCERT AT THE MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (8 P.M.)

The audience will watch the cult classic film “Dirty Dancing” while a band and singers perform on stage at the Macon City Auditorium on Saturday night. Tickets start at $42 on ticketmaster.com.

BEN CHAPMAN AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

Ben Chapman is a country funk musician from Nashville whose newest song is called Baby Don’t Cry, It’s Saturday Night. Chapman performed at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time earlier this week and now he will take to the stage at historic Grant’s Lounge. Tickets to see Ben Chapman perform cost $12 on seetickets.us or at the door.

MODERN ALIBI AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 P.M.)

Modern Alibi is an alternative rock band from Charlotte, North Carolina. They will be playing for the first time in Macon late Saturday night. The Hummingbird Stage & Taproom will charge a $5 cover at the door for this show.

CHANCE CARTER AT JBA (10 P.M.)

Chance Carter is a country music artist who will be playing covers from “The Killers to Luke Bryan” at JBA on Saturday.

FOUR STORIES AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 P.M.)

The Middle Georgia rock band Four Stories will be performing at Billy’s Clubhouse on Saturday. North Macon’s Billy’s Clubhouse does not have a cover charge.
