Live Music Spotlight in Macon and Middle Georgia this Week

The last weekend of the International Cherry Festival will bring two musicians to Macon, although unfortunately Friday's festivities have been canceled due to expected inclement weather. The following are just a few of the opportunities to hear live music in the heart of Georgia this weekend.


THURSDAY, MARCH 21

KARAOKE WITH FRESH PRODUCE RECORD’S WILLIE D AT JBA (9 p.m.)

Sing karaoke with the Fresh Produce Record's Willie D late into the night at JBA on Thursday (and every other Thursday night).

COLIN CUTLER AND HOT PEPPER JAM AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (9 p.m.)

Colin Cutler and Hot Pepper Jam is a band from North Carolina that mixes folk, country, blues, and rock and roll. Cutler’s album “Tarwater” was inspired by Milledgeville’s own Flannery O’Connor.


FRIDAY, MARCH 22

CHERRY BLOSSOM GOSPEL FEST AT TATTNALL SQUARE BAPTIST CHURCH (7 - 9 p.m.)

The Perrys, The Kingsmen, and special guests King's Cross will perform at the Cherry Blossom Gospel Fest. The doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets cost $25 online at this link.

MERCER UNIVERSITY PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE AT MERCER’S TOWNSEND SCHOOL OF MUSIC (7:30 p.m.)

The Mercer University Percussion Ensemble, which is conducted by Dr. Marcus Reddick, will be performing both traditional and non-tradition percussion music, according to the organizers. This free event will take place in Fickling Hall.

THE STEEL WHEELS AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)

The Americana band Steel Wheels will perform at Grant's Lounge Friday night. The door opens at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 9 p.m. with tickets cost $20 online or at the door. This show is for audiences 21 and older.

RAIN DANCE IN THE GARDEN ROOM AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (5 - 11:45 p.m.)

While the weather might mean that the mysterious art pop-up, Woman in the Water, gets wetter than expected, there will be three DJs performing in the venue's Garden Room: DJ Mush (5:15 p.m., CYA Der (6 p.m.) and Demo B2B Lylewind (7 - 9). Special guests will also be performing according to the organizer and vendors The West Collective, Maar Bears Body Art, and Ash Vibes Studio will be on site as well as go-go dancer Evie Brooks. Tickets will cost $15 at the gate.

SATURDAY, MARCH 16

THE CORE PRESENTS THE HORDE FESTIVAL REVIVAL AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (7:30 p.m.)

The Core is a band from Atlanta that will perform popular songs from bands like The Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, Gov’t Mule, Phish, and many more. This concert will honor the musicians who performed at past H.O.R.D.E. (Horizons of Rock Developing Everywhere) Festivals, with the last festival taking place in 1998.

BRYCE LEATHERWOOD AT THE CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL (8 p.m.)

Bryce Leatherwood, who won Season 22 of the television show “The Voice”, will perform on the Coca-Cola Entertainment Stage on Saturday at Carolyn Crayton Park (also known as Central City Park). Tickets to the festival are $10 and allow you to attend the concert as well. There will be a clear bag policy in effect and attendees can bring their own lawn chairs to be more comfortable during the event.

LYLEWIND AT HOTEL FORTY FIVE (8 - 11 p.m.)

DJ Lylewind performs at Hotel Forty Five’s rooftop bar, Hightales. Lylewing specializes in electronic dance music and heavy bass music.

BROKEN SPEAKERS WITH HEADSTRINGS AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)

Broken Strings and Macon’s Headstrings will perform an evening of rock and soul music at historic Grant’s Lounge. Tickets are $10 in advance online or at the door.

LUNAR LIGHTHOUSE AT JBA (10 p.m.)

Lunar Lighthouse is the creative new name of the duo formerly known as Bootz & Katz, a “live electronic rock band”. This performance at JBA will be the first time they perform under the name Lunar Lighthouse, so it will be an occasion to celebrate.

DAVIS & THE LOVE AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

The band Davis & The Love plays a mix of top 40 classic and “modern pop”. There will be a $5 cover charge at the door.

ABBEY ROAD LIVE! BEATLEMANIA 60TH ANNIVERSARY AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (7 p.m.)

The Beatles tribute band Abbey Road Live from Athens will be performing in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Abbey Road on Saturday. Tickets start at $15 for this concert and the doors open at 6 p.m.

SUNDAY, MARCH 23

ERNEST AT THE CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL (7 p.m.)

ERNEST is a singer and songwriter who will be performing for the crowds at the 2024 Cherry Blossom Festival on its last night. Tickets to the festival, which includes the concert, are $10. A clear bag policy is in effect and attendees can bring their own lawn chairs for comfort.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD AND ZZ TOP AT ATRIUM HEALTH AMPHITHEATER (6:30 p.m.)

The first major concert in the Atrium Health Amphitheater will take place Sunday evening with a performance from two iconic southern rock bands, Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. Tickets start at $33.50 on ticketmaster.com.
