Live Entertainment Spotlight in Middle Georgia

Middle Georgia will once again host a variety of fun things to do this week. There will be several family-friendly events celebrating the arrival of summer, lots of live music, and a unique art show/concert at The Society Garden on Saturday. The following are just a few events taking place in the heart of Georgia this week.


THURSDAY, June 6th

ROAD TRIP: PARTY IN THE PARK IN GRIFFIN (5 - 7 p.m.)

Party in the Park is a family-friendly event with music, a Touch-a-Truck, games, food, and more. Guests are invited to bring their chairs and enjoy a free party to start the summer. Party in the Park will take place at Griffin’s Thomas Park (in front of 1010 North Hill Street).

RARE OF BREED AT PERKINS BALL FIELD IN WARNER ROBINS (5 - 9 p.m.)

Rare of Breed combines the sounds of country and Christian music with hip-hop to create a musical style that the band has dubbed GodTwang. In addition to the concert, there will be food trucks, games, activities, and a chance to hang out with others in the Middle Georgia community. Attendees can bring lawn chairs or blankets to stay comfortable at this free event.

KARAOKE WITH FRESH PRODUCE RECORD’S WILLIE D AT JBA (9 p.m.)

Karaoke with the one and only Willie D of Fresh Produce Records. Every Thursday night, the big room at JBA becomes a stage for the brave and talented souls of Macon.


FRIDAY, June 7th

BOB LENNON APPRECIATION TOUR AT OVERTYME BAR & GRILL (5 p.m.)

The one and only Bob Lennon, along with the blueprint band, will be performing at Overtyme Bar & Grill on Pio Nono Avenue. DJ Ron and Teddy will also perform and there will be a happy hour throughout the show.

FIRST FRIDAY BEACH BASH IN MILLEDGEVILLE (5 - 9 p.m.)

Milledgeville Main Street will be bringing a lot of sand downtown for this event: 80 tons, according to the organizer. DJ Hit Play will be on the mixing board and there will be activities for kids at this free event.

FIRST FRIDAY SOUND CLASH WITH DJ QMAXX420 OF SMOKE AND MIRRORS SOUND SYSTEM AT FRESH PRODUCE RECORDS (5:30 - 8:30 p.m.)

Escape Hatch Records and Fresh Produce Records will be bringing the sounds of reggae, ska, soul, and dub to a store-listening party with DJ QMAXX420 of the group Smoke & Mirrors Sound System.

SUMMER MUSIC SERIES AT JUST TAP’D (6-9 p.m.)

Glenn Lewis will be playing a free show at Just Tap’d on Friday night. Bragg Jam’s Summer Music Series will also take place on Friday, June 21st (Lewis Ashe and the Locals), Friday, July 5th (Connor Henderson), and Friday, July 19th (Canadian Tuxedo). Just Tap’d will also be presenting a beer pitcher and pizza for $30 for the concert series.

THE GRAPEVINE BAND PLAY AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (7:30 - 10 p.m.)

The Grapevine Band has been making people dance in Middle Georgia since the late 80s. The band plays rock and roll and soul music. Tickets to see The Grapevine Band in concert cost $20 on eventbrite.com.

ALEX STONE & FRIENDS AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)

Alex Stone is a Middle Georgia-based musician who founded the jam bands The Woofs and the Grateful Dead tribute band, Direwoof. Stone and some of his talented friends will perform at Grant’s on Friday night. Tickets cost $10 on seetickets.us.

WIM TAPLEY & THE CANNONS AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

Wim Tapley is based in Athens and recently released his second full-length album named “Red Door”. Tapley is an Americana/neo-soul/folk-pop songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Tapley’s voice and guitar playing are impressive as well. The Hummingbird will have a $5 cover for this show.



SATURDAY, June 8th

THE HUMMINGBIRD’S 19TH BIRTHDAY PARTY WITH BOB & BLENDER, CALEB MELVIN, AND MORE (4 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

The Hummingbird will be celebrating 19 years of music and drinks this Saturday. The talented Bob & Blender, always a delight to hear, will perform along with Social Battery, Matt McMillian & The City Lights, Darin & Chin, Caleb Melvin, Social Battery, and DJ UH-OH later in the night. The Hummingbird will have a $5 cover for this concert/birthday party.

BAS, DJ PICKLES, N3510, AND CLARK AFTER DARK AT WOMAN IN THE WATER AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (5 - 11:45 p.m.)

Woman in the Water is a concert and an art show with almost 100 original artworks from Middle Georgia artists. The jam band BAS (7:45 p.m.) will perform and DJs N3510 (5:30 p.m.), Forastettik (8 p.m.), Pickles (9 p.m.), the808Baby (10 p.m.), and Clark After Dark (11 p.m), will be spinning up the dance floor late into the night. Tickets to the Woman in the Water art show and concert cost $20 on eventbrite.com.

A FAIRLY WEATHERED EVENING AT PARISH WITH FAIRLY WEATHERED FRIENDS (8 p.m.)

The Fairly Weathered Friends will be grooving out at Parish on Saturday evening. There is no cover charge to listen to this talented band’s music at Parish.

FATAL ATTRACTION, DREAD METAL BAND, TOMBSTONE BLUE AT FRIENDS ON THE HILL IN WARNER ROBINS (8 p.m.)

Three heavy metal bands will be performing this Saturday night at Friends on the HILL: Fatal Attraction, Dread Metal band, and Tombstone Blue. There will also be artwork from soul flow available for purchase at this 21 and older show. There will be a $10 cover and the doors open at 8 p.m.

CHOIR OF BABBLE AT JBA (9 p.m.)

Choir of Babble will be rocking in JBA. If you like Tool or Nine Inch Nails, you will likely like Choir of Babble too. In addition to their experimental rock music, their performances are usually delightful as well.

STREET BEANS AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)

Street Beans, who describe their music as “high quality, low class, street music”. The band hails from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and the doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets to see Street Beans in concert cost $10 at the door online.

GROUND HUM AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

Ground Hum will be performing 90’s alternative rock hit songs at Billy’s Clubhouse early into Sunday morning. Billy’s Clubhouse never has a cover.


SUNDAY, June 9th

TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT YOGA AT FALL LINE BREWING CO. (11 a.m.)

This yoga class will be full of Swifties enjoying her latest album as they bend and stretch. This class is another creative offering from Homegrown Yoga.
