The third week of June will certainly be hot but there are thankfully a few things to do that will help you keep your mind off of the sweltering heat. From an event for those with beards and the people who love them to a night for artistic fans of the band BTS, there is plenty to do in Middle Georgia in the next few days. The following is a small selection of the unique events taking place around you from June 20th through June 23rd.


THURSDAY, June 20th

Beards of Macon Meetup at The Society Garden (6-8 p.m.)

This meeting is for people with beards and those who love them. Beards of Macon and Ben Smith are hosting this unique event for beard lovers. If you would like your long-flowing chin hair to be photographed during this event, you can fill out the form at this link beforehand.

Karaoke with Willie D at JBA (9 p.m.)

Get ready for another evening of karaoke with DJ Willie D of Macon’s much-loved Fresh Produce Records. This event takes place every Thursday on JBA’s main stage.

FRIDAY, June 21st

DIY Pride Art Night at Artspace Macon (6:30 p.m.)

This Pride month-themed event invites creatives to come create a colorful one-of-a-kind work of art on an 8x8 or 8x10 canvas. Art supplies are included and tickets cost $25 on Artspace Macon’s website. Ten percent of profits will go to community organization Pride Hive.

Brett Bartschi at Buffington’s in Milledgeville (7-10 p.m.)

Brett Bartschi is a country music singer and songwriter from Wrens, Georgia who will be performing for dinner guests at Buffington’s restaurant.

Lizella Reign at The Society Garden (8-10 p.m.)

Lizella Reign is a band full of musicians who have been performing since the days when The Allman Brothers Band members were still living in Macon. The band includes Phil Palma on guitar and vocals, Ken Wynn, also on guitar and vocals, Gary Porter on vocals, drums, and harmonica, Rhonda Porter and Miki Caldwell on vocals, Tim Pinson on bass, and Jerry Baker on keyboards.

The Macon Sound at The Hummingbird (10 p.m.-2 a.m.)

The party band The Macon Sound will be celebrating their 8th birthday party with patrons of The Hummingbird late Friday night. There will be a $5 cover charge at the door for this show.

SATURDAY, June 22nd

Club Honey's Midsummer Birthday Bash at Oh Honey Baking Co. (8-11 p.m.)

This Saturday the pop-up Club Honey will return to Oh Honey Baking Co. The musical guest for the evening will be Clark After Dark, with vendor booths from Middle Georgia Mushroom and MD Exchange. The $5 cover charge at the door comes along with a complimentary piece of the Oh Honey Baking Co. made birthday cake to celebrate Oh Honey's 2nd birthday.

The Wild Oats at The Society Garden (8 p.m.)

The Wild Oats will be rocking out at The Society Garden on Saturday. The band is from Macon and includes JD Milam (vocals), Jon Paul Green (guitar), Nate Johnson, Noah Montgomery (drums), and Jake Hilliard.

The Wild Oats performing a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird"

Jackson Tanner Trio at Grant’s Lounge (9 p.m.)

The jam/rock band the Jackson Tanner Trio will perform at historic Grant’s Lounge on Saturday. Jackson Tanner Trio is made up of Bert Mims (bass), Joe LePore (drums), and Jackson Tanner (guitar/vocals). Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $5 online at this link or the door.

Saturday Night Laughs at The Daisy Tequila Bar (9 p.m.)

The Daisy will host its very first comedy show on Saturday night with performances from headliner Black the Handicap, Ebony Da Comedian, LL Da Man, Jamie Helms, and Felex. The host for the evening will be Ramon Davis. This show is for audiences 18 and older and the venue hosts a full bar and kitchen. There will be a $5 cover at the door.

Edgewood Heavy at The Hummingbird (10 p.m.-2 a.m.)

The rock band Edgewood Heavy will bring their psychedelic rock and roll sound to The Hummingbird this Saturday. Edgewood Heavy is from Atlanta and their concerts are described as “high-energy funk fests”. There will be a $5 cover at the door for this show.

Rave Night at Buffington’s in Milledgeville (10 p.m.-2 a.m.)

If you are a fan of electronic dance music, this event is for you. Buffington’s Rave Night will feature music from DJ Caddy Wompus and Yert as well as hot food from the American restaurant.

47 By Crow at Billy’s Clubhouse (10 p.m.-2 a.m.)

47 By Crow will be performing covers of country and southern rock songs and some of their originals at Billy’s Clubhouse this Saturday. Billy’s never has a cover charge.

SUNDAY, June 23rd

BTS Paint and Sip Craft Night at Hello Boba Cafe (6 p.m.)

Fans of the band BTS are invited to come drink boba tea and create art featuring their favorite band member this Sunday. Tickets to BTS Paint and Sip Craft night cost $35 per person, which includes art supplies and a boba tea. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Hello Boba Cafe through the cafe's Facebook page.
