This time of year is a reminder for how much we have to be grateful for. Huge meals, piles of gifts in shiny wrapping paper, and time spent with those we love are luxuries for many.
There are many in middle Georgia who are struggling during this time of year. Lost jobs, disabilities, and tragedies mean many would be grateful for a simple meal.
One way those blessed with so much this year can give back is by donating to a good cause. The good news is there are plenty of organizations in middle Georgia helping others.
“It is every man’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it.” Albert Einstein
Whether you give your time, money, or skills, it is important to do our parts to help members of our community in need. There are too many who can't afford to celebrate along with their families or others of their faith. There are also plenty of great non-profit organizations in middle Georgia.
One such organizations is Depaul USA 's Daybreak located in Macon. Daybreak serves the needs of homeless individuals and their families. This organization currently needs volunteers who can donate 2 or more hours of their time. Volunteers can assist with laundry, cleaning showers, the cafe, front desk, participant check-in, or the tech room.
Daybreak needs volunteers Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. They also need volunteers Tuesdays between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Volunteer orientation takes place on Monday's at 9 a.m. Please call (478) 216-9119 for more information.
U Create Macon, a sponsor of Middle Georgia Times, is another great non-profit organization that helps others.
