This week in the heart of Georgia, there will be celebrations of Cinco de Mayo, another unique storytelling event from Storytellers Macon, live music, events to celebrate mothers, and much more. The following are just a few of the unique things to do in cities all around Middle Georgia the week of May 5th through May 11th.


MONDAY, May 5th

Ink-O de Mayo at The Hummingbird (5/5-5/6) (4 p.m.-2 a.m.)

Tooth & Nail Tattoo Parlor will be offering flash tattoos on Monday and Tuesday. If you get The Hummingbird’s logo tattooed, the bar and music venue promises that you will never have to pay a cover there again.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration and El Amigo el Jardin Grand Opening at The Society Garden (5-9 p.m.)

There will be a new place to eat soon when visiting Ingleside Village: The Society Garden will soon have another on-site restaurant named El Amigo el Jardin. DJ Laylo Lopez will entertain guests, and there will be food and drink specials throughout the evening, according to the venue.

TUESDAY, May 13th

Storytellers Macon presents “The Pen is Mightier than the Sword” at Grant’s Lounge (6:30-8:30 p.m.)

Guests at Storytellers Macon’s “The Pen is Mightier than the Sword” will hear true stories about the power of communication or wisdom at historic Grant’s Lounge this Tuesday. This free event lets anyone tell 5 minute stories about the theme for the evening. These storytelling events are recommended for mature audiences as stories are not censored.

Spring Band Concert at Howard High School (7 p.m.)

Howard High School’s Howard High School’s Huskies will perform their spring band concert on Tuesday. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

Lego Day at Eatonton Putnam County Library (3-6 p.m.)

The Eatonton Putnam County Library presents Lego Days each Wednesday. This free event is for kids age 5 and older and takes place in the library’s children’s area.

THURSDAY, May 1st

May Food Truck Roundup (5-9 p.m.)

Visit Warner Robins will present another Food Truck Roundup on Thursday at Perkins Field. There will be local food trucks and music from Good Company. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and friends for this free to attend event.

Macon Bike Party: Pastures + Pavement Ride (6-8 p.m.)

Bike Walk Macon’s latest Macon Bike Party will include a leisurely bike ride through downtown and a scenic ride through the industrial side of Macon. The Party Marshall for this fun biking event will be artist Anna Richards, who will be playing some honky tonk music to set the mood. Riders will meet at Bike Walk Macon’s office and registration will start at 6 p.m. Participants are also invited to meet at Rose Room afterward for further partying. Helmets are required to take part in this free family-friendly event.

MUSIC: Trey Dunnahoo and Andy Johnson Single Release Party at Fresh Produce Records (7 p.m.)

Patrons at Fresh Produce Records will celebrate the release of two new singles from Andy Johnson and Trey Dunnahoo on Thursday. The popular independent record store occasionally transforms into a unique music venue in Downtown Macon, such as when the one-and-only Frank Hurricane performed this past weekend.

MUSIC: Jim Lauderdale with Eric Hinsohn at Capricorn Sound Studios (7 p.m.)

The Grammy Award-winning country, bluegrass, and Americana singer, songwriter, and performer Jim Lauderdale, and Eric Hinsohn, will perform an intimate concert at the Capricorn Sound Studios and Museum on Thursday night. Lauderdale has impressively released more than 30 studio albums during his music career. Tickets cost $39.69 online at this link.

FRIDAY, May 9th

Heritage Series VI: Remembering the Battle of Koh Tang, 50 Years Later at the Museum of Aviation (2-4 p.m.)

The Museum of Aviation will hold a free event in its Century of Flight Hanger to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Koh Tang, which was the official last battle of the Vietnam War. The battle is also known as the Mayaguez incident and included three Air Force helicopters being shot down and several soldiers losing their lives in a successful attempt to rescue the crew of a U.S. merchant vessel. This special event is free and open to the public with registration at this link.

ART: Brighter Together (The Arc Artist Showcase) Opening Reception at Artspace Macon (3-7 p.m.)

The artists of The Art Macon will showcase their talents at the art exhibit “Brighter Together” at Ingleside Village’s Artspace Macon. The artists of The Arc Macon have developmental disabilities but they don’t let that hold them back from being creative. Local artists Lindsey Hopkins, Megan Hunter, Rhonda Miller, and Casie Trace collaborated with the artists, and the artists also created their own artworks, all of which will be available for sale. Proceeds from the exhibit will benefit The Arc Macon Arts Program. “Brighter Together” will be on display till June 7th.

Macon Spring Home Expo at the Macon Marriott City Center (5/9-5/11) (12-6 p.m.)

The Macon Spring Home Expo is a free event that invites homeowners who want to save money on home improvement projects to the Macon Marriott City Center. Local and national vendors will be on hand to give advice and help guide homeowners to valuable resources. The expo will take place on Saturday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m.-4 p.m.) as well. MUSIC: BAS at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)

BAS will take music lovers on a funky wild ride at The Hummingbird on Friday. The band has an enthusiastic following in Middle Georgia and beyond and are known for their energetic sets. There will be a $5 cover charge at the door for this show.

SATURDAY, May 10th

Smiley’s Flea Market Car and Bike Show (10 a.m.)

Bradley’s Angels and Poor Man’s Treasures will host a car and bike show for all makes and models at Smiley’s Flea Market this Saturday. There will be a $20 registration fee the day of the show. In case of inclement weather, the rain date will be next Saturday, May 17th, according to Bradley’s Angels.

Bacon Fest 2025 at Luther Williams Field (11 a.m.-5 p.m.)

This annual event is all about the bacon, which is fitting as it takes place at the home of the Macon Bacon baseball team. Bacon Fest will include more than 30 vendors, food trucks, live music, and a Bacon Cook-Off. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

Peach Season Kick-off at Lane Southern Orchards (11 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Fort Valley’s Lane Southern Orchards will host a Peach Season Kick-off this weekend with food trucks, vendors, and an Elsa and Anna meet and greet for the kids. Lane Southern Orchards consists of 11,000 acres where peaches and pecans are grown and then sold at its Roadside Farmers' Market. This event is free to attend.

20th Annual Fort Hawkins Archaeology Day (12-4 p.m.)

The Ocmulgee Archeological Society and The Fort Hawkins Foundation will present the 20th Annual Fort Hawkins Archaeology Day this Saturday. This event for history buffs and the curious will include activities like pottery making, primitive skills, living history, tours of the museum and blockhouse, and more. Fort Hawkins Archaeology Day is free to attend.

2nd Saturday May Fling in Downtown Griffin (12-6 p.m.)

Griffin will celebrate its 2nd Saturday May Fling this weekend with art, crafts, food, music, according to the organizers. This family-friendly event is presented Hoshizaki America. Later, at 7 p.m., the city’s 2nd Saturday Concert Series at the Park at Sixty will include a performance by Chuck X Nick. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase.

Mother’s Day Craft at Hello Boba Cafe (2-4 p.m.)

Hello Boba Cafe will present a free Mother’s Day crafting event at the unique eatery on Saturday. Crafters will be provided free supplies and plenty of creative inspiration from the colorful interior design of the cafe.

Mother’s Day at the Field at Field Cut Flowers (2-6 p.m.)

This event will include a chance to either grab some flowers to go to celebrate Mother’s Day or pick your own to make it more personal. Everything Gelato by Chad will also be on hand selling sweet desserts.

MUSIC: Totally Taurus Rave hosted by Lunar Lighthouse at T and Jay’s Bar (9 p.m.)

The Totally Taurus Rave, which is the next installment in the Court of Miracle’s Zodiac Rave Series, celebrates those born under the sign of Taurus. This event will include a silent disco hosted by Lunar Lighthouse, open decks, a karaoke zone, a live painting and flow performance, and more. Attendees are encouraged to dress in Taurus-inspired outfits for this unique event.

MUSIC: Free Lance Ruckus at Grant’s Lounge (9 p.m.)

Dog Mom Day at Just Tap’d (12 p.m.)

Just Tap’d will celebrate all dog moms this Sunday with a free bandana with the purchase of a cocktail (one per guest), a free pup-cup, and a chance to purchase a pup pizza for your furry loved one. An on-site artist will also help dogs create an artistic masterpiece from 1 to 4 p.m.

MUSIC: Bragg Jam’s Second Sunday Concert with Buster Chrome on Coleman Hill (6-8 p.m.)

Buster Chrome will perform on Coleman Hill overlooking Downtown Macon as part of Bragg Jam’s Second Sunday Concert Series this Sunday. This family-friendly concert will include Middle Georgians enjoying picnics, spending time with families, friends, and leashed pets, and listening to a free concert.
