Students from multiple high schools in Macon-Bibb county will recite original poetry based on the theme "Social Justice: Silence No More" at this free event at the historic Grand Opera House.
This competitive event will allow the students to compete for scholarships and cash prizes.
The first place winner will receive $15,000, the second place winner will receive $10,000, and the third place winner will receive $5,000, courtesy of The Griffith Family Foundation.
The "Social Justice: Silence No More" Poetry Slam is free to attend and is sponsored by the Griffith Foundation, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Epsilon Omega Omega Chapter, Communities in Schools of Central Georgia, and Michael Buckholz.
