Interesting Events in Middle Georgia this Week (7/25 - 7/31)

There are a lot of fun things to do in Middle Georgia this week. Early in the week you can listen to live music, learn how to protect the environment around you, and more. This Saturday the Bragg Jam Concert Crawl is back and there will be plenty of talented bands performing at 7 venues in downtown Macon as well as multiple events planned with Bragg Jam in mind.

Monday, July 25th

Adam and the Testifiers at jba in Macon (10 p.m.)

Start your week off with some music at this event Monday night. Adam is turning 29 this year and the general public is invited to come celebrate his "existential dread" and see him perform with his band, Adam and the Testifiers.  This band from Atlanta is in the middle of touring up and down the East Coast. jba is located at 499 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Macon.

Tuesday, July 26th

Public Involvement Open House for the Macon-Bibb County Comprehensive Plan in Macon (11 a.m. - 7 p.m.)

The general public is invited to come share their thoughts about Macon-Bibb County's future at this event on Tuesday. Macon Bibb's Comprehensive Plan will be carried out over the next 20 years. A second required public hearing will take place on August 11th. The Public Involvement Open House will take place at the Macon-Bibb Planning and Zoning Commission Office located at 200 Cherry Street, Suite 300 in Macon.

Daddy Daughter Date Night at Schultze's Old Fashioned Soda Shop in Perry (5 p.m.)

This event is for dads who want to make special memories with their daughters. The evening will involve a dinner, special dessert, and fun activities. Tickets cost $35 per father/daughter pair and $12 for each additional daughter. Schultze's Old Fashioned Soda Shop is located at 757 Carroll Street in Perry.

Wednesday, July 27th

POSTPONED until August 17th Protecting Macon/Middle Georgia's Environment in Macon (6 p.m.)

Join members from the Fringed Campion chapter, the Ocmulgee Audubon Society, Master Gardeners of Central Georgia, and other citizens to hear Mr. Mike Glisson, the Director of the Macon-Bibb County Parks & Beautification Department, speak. Glisson will discuss Macon-Bibb County's achievement of the "Tree City USA" status and their contribution to using "eco-friendly landscaping practices". This event will take place at the Bibb County Extension Office located at 715 Oglethorpe Street in Macon.



Thursday, July 28th

Celebrating Macon Magazine's "The Music Issue" at Grant's Lounge in Macon (5 p.m.)

This free event will be a celebration of Macon Magazine's "Music Issue" with live music from diverse and talented bands Blak9earl, Big Mike, Sean Solo, Rachel Forehand, Bob Lennon, and Collective Sp8ce. Reservations are required and can be made online at this link. Grant's Lounge is located at 576 Poplar Street in Macon.

Sound Bath at Triangle Arts Macon (5 p.m.)

This event will surround attendees with the hip art at Triangle Arts and the immersive and moving sounds from "drums, chimes, and sound bowls". Sound baths have gained popularity in recent years due in part to their positive effects on pain and stress. You are invited to bring something comfortable to lay down on as well as your favorite beverage to enjoy while listening to the soothing sounds. Triangle Arts Macon does not recommend this event for "those who are in their first trimester of pregnancy, currently have thrombosis, hypotension, or sensory sensitivity." Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased at this link. Triangle Arts Macon is located at 206 Lower Elm Street in Macon.

Friday, July 29th

Ward Davis at Grant's Lounge in Macon (7 p.m.)

Talented singer/songwriter Ward Davis performs on Friday night with The Piedmont Boys opening the show. Davis sounds like the old school country artists and his songs, while often sad, are also very beautiful. Tickets for this concert cost $20 or $15 if you buy 4 together and can be purchased at this link. Grant's Lounge is located at 560 Poplar Street in Macon.

Watch "Finding Nemo" at Movie in the Park in Downtown Griffin (7 p.m.)

Downtown Griffin hosts another free Movie in the Park event this Friday. Pixar's "Finding Nemo" is sure to entertain the whole family. A free movie snack, drink, and ice cream will also be served. This event is brought to Griffin by Chick-fil-A Griffin, Spalding County, and Griffin Downtown Council. Movie in the Park takes place on the field at the corner of 5th and Solomon Street in Griffin. 

The Ritmo Soul Bunch at Hailey's Cigar Lounge in Macon (8 p.m.)

If you like cigars, salsa, and mojitos, then this event was made for you. Ritmo Soul Bunch describes themselves as "Middle Georgia's only Latin fusion band". They just performed for big crowds at The Society Garden's Tacos and Tequila Fest last weekend. Hailey's Cigar Lounge is located at 2308 Ingleside Avenue in Macon.

Saturday, July 30th

Atrium Health Presents Bragg Fam (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.)

This family friendly event was once named the Bragg Jam Arts and Kid's Fest. Attendees will enjoy "multiple bounce houses, a live DJ" and activities for the kids like a water slide and possibly a splash pad. This event is meant to help parents who want to attend Bragg Jam by tiring out their children before the evening festivities begin. The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is located at 301 Cherry Street in Macon.

Bragg Jam Pre-Party at Fall Line Brewing Co. in Macon (12 - 3 p.m.)

Fall Line Brewing Co. will host a free show  with live music from Front Porch Radio before Bragg Jam starts at 5 p.m. Fall Line Brewing Co. has a nice, astroturfed outdoor seating area where people can bring their well-behaved dogs as well as lots of drinks and food to choose from. Fall Line Brewing Co. is located at 567 Plum Street in Macon.

Bragg Jam Concert Crawl 2022 in Macon (5 p.m.)

Bragg Jam was created in memory of Brax, an up and coming young singer/songwriter, and Tate Bragg, his younger brother. This event has become a beloved part of Macon and it brings both local and national musicians to perform at 7 venues in downtown Macon. This year Tank and the Bangas are the headline act.

Duane Betts with Johnny Stachela and Berry Duane Oakley and Lunar Vacation are just a few of the more than 30 other bands that will be performing during Bragg Jam. These  performance will take place at The Hargray Capitol Theatre, The Crazy Bull (their Main Stage and parking lot), Grant's Lounge, jba, A Brooke Haven Lounge, and Serenity. Tickets are $40 if purchased online at this link, $45 at the door the day of the event, and $150 for a VIP ticket (which includes an air conditioned VIP lounge, open bar, and an event shirt). This is a rain or shine event and no refunds will be given. 

Sugar Virus Performs with Special Guests in Downtown Macon (7 p.m.)

This event is strangely described as a way to "celebrate Arnold Schwarzenegger's birthday...while playing all of the greatest hits [like] "Get to the Choppa" and "Its not a tumah". Attendees are invited to dress up in their best Schwarzenegger costumes and compete for prizes. Sugar Virus will perform at 3rd Street Park in Macon.

Open Mic Comedy Night with Tall Trey at Reboot Retrocade & Bar in Macon (7 p.m.)

Tall Trey Comedy hosts an open mic night at Reboot Retrocade & Bar Saturday night. Comedians can test out their sets for free. The list drops at 8 p.m. with the show starting at 9 p.m. This show is for attendees 18 and over. Reboot Retrocade & Bar is located at 566 Cherry Street in Macon.

Sunday, July 31st

Sip and Shop with Fall Line Brewing Co. (12 - 5 p.m.)

Fall Line Brewing Co. will host its first indoor shopping experience Sunday afternoon. Boutiques and vendors will be selling "women’s clothes, shoes, accessories, and gifts". Fall Line will also be serving mimosas, cocktails, and beer as well as charcuterie. Fall Line Brewing Co. is located at 567 Plum Street in Macon.

Jazz in the Courtyard: Ken Trimmins and The Quiet Storm (7 p.m.)

The Douglass Theatre presents another free evening of Jazz on Sunday night. Ken Trimmins & The Quiet Storm will perform at the final Jazz In the Courtyard for 2022. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs to relax and listen to smooth, live jazz music. The Douglass Theatre is located at 355 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Macon.
