Summer Evening of Restoration and Fun at Tattnall Square Park (4:30-8 p.m.)
The Summer Evening of Restoration and Fun will include local vendors, a raffle, a painting class and more. Raffle tickets will cost $20 each and a painting class will cost $15 per person (with $5 donated). You can reserve your spot for painting at this link. This event will raise funds for Shaome Cooperative’s GROW Program at Vineville Academy which will fund hands-on edible gardens and a Food Forest, according to the organizers of this free-to-attend event.

WEDNESDAY, July 9th
Downtown Macon French Flight (7/9-7/11)
The Downtown Macon French Fry Fight returns to Downtown Macon this week. The contest features eateries around the city competing to see who can come up with the tastiest and most creative take on french fries. This year restaurants like Biddy’s (GarParm Fries), Cashman’s Pub (Chicken Pot Fry), and The Social Duck (The Gouda Pig), as well as 20 other participating locations, will face off to see who can create the most creative and popular fry special for the three-day long contest.

Elite/Junior Residential Soccer Camp by Bradd Ruzzo Soccer Camps (7/9-7/12) (2 p.m.)
Bradd Ruzzo Soccer Camps will take place at Mercer University this week. The camps are for boy students in grades 5 to 12th and transfers. This overnight camp was created for players who want to compete at a collegiate level, according to the organizers. Campers will be trained by the Mercer Soccer coaching staff and have the opportunity to be seen by coaches from other colleges like University of Central Florida, Bradley University, and SMU. MUSIC: BASS in the Bell Tower at The Society Garden (7-10 p.m.)
BASS in the Bell Tower returns to The Society Garden every Wednesday with a family-friendly event for those who enjoy electronic dance music (EDM). This all-ages event includes a silent disco, flow arts (like hula hoops and batons), and sometimes members of the audience even get to try their hand at DJing on professional equipment as well. There is no cover charge to attend the weekly BASS in the Bell Tower.

Food As Medicine Health Eating Class: Carbohydrates at Food as Medicine Market (10 a.m.)
Keishon J. Thomas will give a talk about carbohydrates at this free class on Thursday. Thomas is the Macon-Bibb County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent from the University of Georgia Extension Service. On Thursday evening, Artspace Macon will host a special event for parents/guardians of children with autism at ArtSpace Macon. Attendees will get a chance to create a “beach-inspired painting or collage” and the event is free for up to 20 participants, courtesy of Central Georgia Autism. CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER YOGA: Wild Heart Yoga July Full Moon Yoga and Fundraiser at Coleman Hill (6:30 p.m.)
Join yoga teacher Amber Pierce of Wild Heart Yoga for a unique all-levels yoga practice and fundraiser for Wellness Hug’s aerial installation on Thursday night. Those who arrive early will get a chance to get creative with chalk art and attendees will also get a chance for journaling and more, according to the organizers of Full Moon Yoga. Mats are available for those who don’t have their own and chair yoga is also available during July’s Full Moon Yoga. Early Screening of “Superman” (2025) with the Macon Film Festival at AmStar Macon (7:15 p.m.)
The Macon Film Fest, Visit Macon, and AmStar Macon have collaborated to bring an early screening of the new “Superman” film to Macon. Scenes in The Daily Star in the newest movie in the superhero franchise were filmed in Downtown Macon’s Terminal Station in late 2024. THEATRE: “The Prince of Egypt” Theatre Macon Fundraiser for Daybreak/Sheridan Center (8 p.m.)

Macon Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore Community Day (11 a.m.-2 p.m.)
The Macon Area Habitat for Humanity will host its annual ReStore Community Day with a DJ, games and activities for kids, food, vendors, a raffle, and more this Friday. The ReStore is a second-hand retail outlet that sells donated home furnishings, furniture, building supplies, and more. There is no cover charge to attend this family-friendly event.

July First Friday in Downtown Macon (5-11:45 p.m.)
July’s First Friday took place actually took place on July 4th but the First Friday activities will take place this Friday to include those who might have been out of town for the 4th of July holiday.
- Visitors to Downtown Macon this Friday can try different fry plates at over 20 restaurants during the Downtown Macon French Fry Fight. Or they could jump on the first-ever Macon Film Tour, which will tour locations around the city connected to the silver screen.
- Visit Macon will screen the Jackie Robinson biopic “42” (another film with Macon filming locations) in the Steven Fulbright Theater located inside Visit Macon’s Visitor Information Center starting at 4:30 p.m.
- Guests at Fall Line Brewing Co. on Friday can take part in the Warped Pour release where you can try a new pint of punches every week through July 17th. Longleaf Distillery will host "Appy Hour!" where patrons can enjoy the snack of the month for 50% off from 4 to 7 p.m. Rose Room will unveil a new happy hour menu and offer happy hour specials between 5 and 7 p.m.
- The newly opened Pet Party Palace will hold a pet superhero costume event and contest from 5 to 8 p.m. While Sweet Eleanor’s, The Bohemian Den, and Mossy Creek Natural will be open later than usual to celebrate First Friday.
- As usual, First Friday will include lots of opportunity for art crawls and gallery exhibit openings. The 567 Center for Renewal will host a “Corks and Canvas” class starting at 7 p.m., and the Lore Gallery (which features handcrafted items from indigenous people from places like Panama and Columbia), will be open from 4 until 7 p.m.
- Finally, patrons at Hello Boba Cafe can take part in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures Trivia Night starting at 6 p.m.

Good Medicine: Superhero Summer at Cherry Street Plaza (5 p.m.)
Good Medicine will host a family-friendly celebration called Superhero Summer in Cherry Street Plaza with a silent disco with curated playlists, live art demonstrations, face painting, and hands-on crafts where children can create their own superhero masks. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and enjoy interactive performances throughout the plaza. Good Medicine is hosted by Court of Miracles and supported by Visit Macon and is free and open to the public.

Country music fans can enjoy an acoustic set from local artist Bella Dunn on the back patio of The Hummingbird Stage & Taproom during First Friday. Bella Dunn performed at Griffin-Spalding’s Doc Holliday Festival last year. Bella Dunn’s performance will coincide with The Bird’s happy hour and will offer a chance to hear a rising voice in the local music scene perform a selection of original songs and covers. There will be a $5 cover at the door for this show.

Baby and Me Handprint Painting at Loving Arms Family Support (6-7:30 p.m.)

Trail Maintenance at the Georgia Industrial Childrens Home’s Pig Trail (9 a.m.-12 p.m.)
Help give the Pig Trail at the Georgia Industrial Childrens Home some much-needed love at this volunteering event on Saturday. Volunteers will work with the Ocmulgee Mountain Biking Association for a morning of brush clearing, trimming, and general trail TLC. Tools will be available for attendees, but OMBA suggests bringing water, work gloves, and good vibes.
