Monday, September 5th

McDuffie Center Labor Day Festival Concert in Macon (3 - 5 p.m.)

Celebrate Labor Day with a free concert featuring talented high school students along with Mercer University’s Robert McDuffie Center for Strings faculty members and students. This event takes place in Fickling Hall where seating is first-come, first served. Fickling Hall is located at 1329 Adams Street in Macon.

Tuesday, September 6th

Yoga at Mill Hill in Macon (6:30 - 7:15 p.m.)

Every Tuesday the Mill Hill Community Arts Center hosts a donation based yoga class. Yoga instructor Christina Murray will lead this 45 minute flow for beginners as well as seasoned yogis. The Mill Hill Community Arts Center is located at 213 Clinton Street in Macon.

Wednesday, September 7th

Eat, Drink, Learn at SparkMacon (6 - 8 p.m.)

This event will teach interested business and non-profit owners all about grants. Brenna McNulty of BANC, the Business and Nonprofit Center located at the Washington Library in Macon, will teach attendees the ins and outs of getting their businesses successfully funded. SparkMacon is located at 600 Guy Payne Road in Macon.



Thursday, September 8th

Celebration of Otis Redding's Birthday at Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen in Macon (5 - 8 p.m.)

There are several events taking place in Macon this week to celebrate Otis Redding. As part of the celebration Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen will release a new beer named Mr. Pitiful’s Pilsner after Redding’s song of the same name. Fresh Produce Records will be providing a DJ who will be mixing Otis Redding songs for the event as well. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Otis Redding Foundation, a music education organization based in Macon. Piedmont Brewery and Kitchen is located at 450-B Third Street in Macon.

Friday, September 9th

"An Evening of Respect" Otis Redding Tribute Concert at the Grand Opera House in Macon (7 p.m.)

The Otis Redding Foundation presents a night of celebration for Otis Redding with this tribute concert. “An Evening of Respect” will honor Redding on what would have been his 81st birthday. There will be live musical performances from Zach Wilson, Robert Glasper, and Mickey Guyton and more. Proceeds from “An Evening of Respect” will benefit the future new Otis Redding Center of the Arts. Tickets for this event start at $60. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. The Grand Opera House is located at 651 Mulberry Street in Macon.

One Good Ring Grateful Dead Tribute in Macon (8:15 - 11 p.m.)

Friday night the air at The Society Garden will be filled with the resounding sounds of jam band music from One Good Ring, a Grateful Dead Tribute band from Florida. The Society Garden is located at 2389 Ingleside Avenue in Macon.

Saturday, September 10th

Doc Holliday Festival in Griffin (10 a.m.)

Doc Holliday was a famous gunfighter, gambler, and friend of Wyatt Earp who spent time in Griffin as a practicing dentist. The Doc Holliday Festival is an Arts and Crafts festival celebrates that connection. The event includes western re-enactments, food, and more. It takes place in Griffin City Park located at 601 Camp Northern Road in Griffin.

Picnic in the Park at Carolyn Crayton Park in Macon (11 a.m. - 3 p.m.)

This Saturday the Macon-Bibb Recreation Department will present the second annual Picnic in the Park at Macon’s Carolyn Crayton Park (formerly known as Central City Park). Picnic in the Park takes place at the Macon-Bibb County Recreation Department located at 150 Willie Smokie Glover Drive in Macon.

Tribe: LIVE on Broadway in Macon (8 p.m.)

The performers from Tribe will be on the stage of the historic Grand Opera house for a night of showtunes and dramatic performances on Saturday night. Macon’s favorite Drag Entertainers will present songs from Broadway shows like Grease, Cabaret, and Hamilton during this one night only event. Tickets start at $20 and the performances of LIVE on Broadway are for a mature audience. The Grand Opera House is located at 651 Mulberry Street in Macon.

Sunday, September 11th

Macon Film Guild Presents "A Love Song” (2, 5, 7:30 p.m.)

The Macon Film Guild will screen the movie “A Love Song” at the Douglass Theatre on Saturday evening. The movie is about first love, aging, and the many surprises that happen in life. It stars Dale Dickey, a veteran actor who was also in popular shows like True Blood and Breaking Bad. This is a free event. The Douglass Theatre is located at 355 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Macon.

The Temptations and the Four Tops at the Macon City Auditorium (7 p.m.)

Audiences will hear two famous Motown bands from the 60s and 70s on Sunday night. These two bands have been performing with each other for many years and both bands started their musical careers more than 50 years ago. Tickets start at $46.75 and the doors open at 6 p.m. The Macon City Auditorium is located at 415 First Street in Macon.
