Fun Things to Do in Macon this Week

There are many unique events taking place in Macon this week, from free trivia at El Sombrero and JAG's Pizzeria and Pub, a free night cycling class with Bike Walk Macon, and even a puppy yoga event at Fall Line Brewing Co. Valentine's Day is coming up next week but there are plenty of romantic events happening this week for those who want to celebrate love outside of the official holiday of love on next Tuesday.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6

Survey Time Showdown at El Sombrero (7 p.m)

Survey Time Showdown Time is a Family Feud like game that takes place in El Sombrero on Mondays. This family friendly event lasts about an hour, is free to play, and includes prizes for winners.

El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant is located at 610 North Avenue in Macon.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7

Valentines Skate Date at the Macon Coliseum (9 p.m.)

Valentine’s Day will take place a week from this Tuesday but there are plenty of reasons to celebrate love earlier. This romantic ice skating date event will be the first ever Valentines Skate Date in Macon, according to the Macon Coliseum. Tickets cost $12 for one or $20 for two and they can be purchased online or at the door.

The Macon Coliseum is located at 200 Coliseum Drive in Macon.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8

The Trivia Zone at JAG’s Pizzeria and Pub (5:30 - 8 p.m.)

The Trivia Zone is a free trivia experience that is meant to entertain and amuse diners at JAG’s.

JAG’S Pizzeria and Pub is located at 1635 Montpelier Avenue in Macon.



THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9

Night Cycling 101 with Bike Walk Macon (6 - 8 p.m.)

Bike Walk Macon presents a special night-cycling class this Thursday. Attendees will learn the best way to ride bikes at night and will then get to practice with a group bike ride through Downtown Macon. This class is for students 18 and older and is free to attend. Bike Macon requests that anyone interested in this class completes an online pre-registration before the class. If you need to borrow a bike to take part in this class email Kaylee at Bike Walk Macon.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10

Film Screening of “Sleepless in Seattle” at the Grand Opera House (6 p.m.)

“Sleepless in Seattle” is the 1993 romantic comedy about a boy trying to find a love interest for his father by calling into a radio station. It stars Tom Hanks as the dad and Meg Ryan as one of many women who hears the son’s request. This movie is also based on a true love story. Tickets for this screening cost $5 and can be purchased online or at the Grand’s Box Office.

Paint and Sip Boba at Hello Boba Cafe (6:15 p.m.)

This Valentine’s Day themed event invites you to enjoy drinking boba and doing crafts with friends at Hello Boba Cafe. Tickets cost $15 and include a large drink, supplies including a canvas to paint. There are only 12 available tickets for this event so reserve your spot quickly by contacting Hello Boba Cafe through Facebook messenger or by speaking with someone at the cafe if you are interested in attending this fun event.

5th Annual Valentine’s Trivia at Reboot (9 p.m.)

This Valentine’s day themed trivia event will be free to play and will include themed drinks and prizes for the winners. Sign up starts at 8:30 p.m. and this event is for mature audiences 18 years old or older.

Reboot Retrocade and Bar is located at 566 Cherry Street in Macon.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11

Soul Food Festival and Macaroni and Cheese Mayhem Contest at The Society Garden (12 - 4 p.m.)

Middle Georgians are known for their love of soul food and this event at The Society Garden celebrates that love. There will be two food trucks, the Scoville Hot Chicken food truck and the Soul To Soul food truck. There will also be Mac And Cheese Mayhem contest to decide who makes the best Mac and Cheese in Macon. If you are interested in taking part in the contest, be sure to email Brad Evans to register your team. Whoever wins the top prize will receive $500 cash. Tickets cost $5 and includes a sample of all 12 entries and live music all afternoon. Shamarr Allan from Galactic performs starting at 8 p.m.

The Society Garden is located at 2389 Ingleside Avenue in Macon.

SHINE Opening Reception in Third Street Park (7 - 9 p.m.)

SHINE will have its opening reception Friday night. SHINE is a public art experience from NewTown Macon that will use some of Macon’s vacant storefronts at the Bibb Theatre and Newberry building to showcase light and projection art installations by Darya Fard and Craig Coleman. The electronic dance music band Bootz & Katz will perform live and Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen will be on hand with a cash bar to celebrate this free artistic event.

Third Street Park is located at 455 - 499 Third Street in Macon.

Valentine’s Day Weekend R&B Extravaganza at the Macon City Auditorium (8 p.m.)

The Valentine’s Day Weekend R&B Extravaganza will feature award-winning musician Monica along with special guests RL of Next, Avery Sunshine, and comedian Mike Bonner from BET hosting. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $69 and can be purchased online or at the Macon Coliseum’s Box Office while available.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 12

Puppy Love Adoption Extravaganza at Fall Line Brewing Co. (11 a.m.)

Fall Line Brewing Co. presents a puppy adoption event this Sunday that includes a unique type of yoga called Puppy Love Yoga. The yoga class begins at 11 a.m. and is presented by Pawsome Southern Rescue. An instructor from Homegrown Yoga will lead the class and adoptable puppies will amuse and delight participants. Tickets for Puppy Love Yoga cost $5 while supplies last. From 12 until 3 p.m. Pawsome Southern Rescue will then bring some of their cute and adoptable puppies to Fall Line Brewing Co.’s cozy beer garden.

Fall Line Brewing is located at 567 Plum Street in Macon.
