Live Music Spotlight in Middle Georgia

Correction: The Second Sunday Concert on Coleman Hill with Sean Solo is scheduled to take place this Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., not at 8 p.m. 

This week in Middle Georgia you can hear country music from singers like Mark Chestnut or Hannah Dasher, rock music from bands like Fury in Few and Bastardane, blues and soul music from artists like Black 9earl and Robert Lee Coleman, and much more. The following are just a few of the artists performing at venues all across Middle Georgia during the next few days.


THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5

MARK CHESNUTT AT THE GEORGIA NATIONAL FAIRGROUNDS & AGRICENTER (7:30 P.M.)

    Mark Chesnutt is a country music singer who has had twenty top ten hits on Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. Some of his most popular songs were "Brother Jukebox", "I'll Think of Something", and "It Sure Is Monday”. Chesnutt is often compared stylistically to singer George Jones. General admission tickets to the Georgia National Fair allow attendees to see Chesnutt perform for free.  

    THE BLACK JACKET SYMPHONY PRESENTS “SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER” (8 P.M.)

      The band Black Jacket Symphony will perform the soundtrack of the 1977 movie “Saturday Night Fever” at the Macon City Auditorium on Thursday night. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show start at $12.25 on Ticketmaster.com at the time of publication.  

      KARAOKE WITH DJ WILLIE D (9 P.M.)

        DJ Willie D of Fresh Produce Records hosts karaoke nights on JBA on Thursdays. DJ Willie D is known for his sense of humor, expansive musical knowledge, and unique musical tastes.

        FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6 

        ALEX STONE AND SKY SLATES AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (6 - 9 P.M.)

          Alex Stone (guitar/vox) and Sky Slates (guitar/vox) are Middle Georgia musicians who will be performing at the restaurant Buffington’s this Friday evening. Buffington’s does not have a cover charge. 

          SIDEWALK PROPHETS AT THE GEORGIA NATIONAL FAIRGROUNDS & AGRICENTER (7:30 P.M.)

            The Sidewalk Prophets are a contemporary Christian music band who will perform on Friday at the Georgia National Fair. The Sidewalk Prophets concert is free with fair admission. 

            WARD DAVIS WITH SPECIAL GUEST JB STRAUSS AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 P.M.)

              Ward Davis is a singer and songwriter whose songs have been recorded by artists like Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Jimmie Van Zant. Special guest JB Strauss will be the opener for the show. Ticket prices to see Ward Davis and JB Strauss start at $15. 

              HANNAH DASHER AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8:30 - 11:30 P.M.)

                Hannah Dasher is a country music artist (and popular TikTokker with over 1 million followers) from Savannah who will perform at The Society Garden this Friday night. Her latest single is “That Thing You Like”. Tickets to see Hannah Dasher live cost $15 online or at the door starting at 7 p.m. 

                FURY IN FEW AND BASTARDANE AT JBA (9 P.M.)

                  Fury in Few is a high energy hard rock band from Atlanta who will be performing with another rock band, Bastardane, at JBA on Friday night. Bastardane is from Savannah and their music has been described as a mix of “sludge, trash, and melodic rock.” General admission tickets to see Fury in Few and Bastardane cost $10 in advance or $13 at the door. 

                  WAYNE GRAHAM WITH SPECIAL GUEST KIMBERLY MORGAN YORK AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

                    Wayne Graham is a band made up of two brothers from the mountains of Kentucky playing rock music. The band is at the forefront of what is called the new Appalachia music movement is Wayne Graham. Special guest country music singer and songwriter Kimberly Morgan York will open for Wayne Graham. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 9 p.m. Tickets to the show cost $10 online or at the door.

                    DAVIS AND THE LOVE AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 P.M.)

                      Davis & The Love is a soul/pop band from Atlanta whose sound is influenced by Motown but made for current times. Their most recent single “Star”, was released in May 2022. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover at the door for this show.

                      NYTEBYRD AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 P.M.)

                        NyteByrd is a band from Macon that plays “high energy rock, funk, rhythm, blues, classic rock, and dance” music. Billy’s Clubhouse does not have a cover charge.

                        DJ MIKES REVENGE AT FRIENDS ON THE HILL IN WARNER ROBINS (10 P.M.)

                          Friends on the HILL’s The Mixer this Friday will feature DJ Mikes Revenge from Atlanta along with DJ B3 and DJ Fox. There is no cover charge at Friends on the HILL.


                          SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7

                          ROAD TRIP: PORCHFEST 2023 IN HAMPTON (12 P.M.)

                            PorchFest 2023 is a festival that  celebrates “music, art, and community” in Downtown Hampton and its surrounding neighborhoods. This unique festival will feature musicians from different genres performing and live art demonstrations on the porches of several of Hampton’s citizens. There will also be food vendors and this event is free and open to the public.

                            MJ LIVE AT THE GEORGIA NATIONAL FAIRGROUNDS & AGRICENTER (7:30 P.M.)

                              MJ Live is a Michael Jackson tribute concert that will feature Jackson’s biggest hits like “Bad”, “Billie Jean”, and “Beat It”. General admission tickets to the Georgia National Fair allow attendees to see the MJ Live concert.

                              SARAH SHOOK AND THE DISARMERS AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8:30 - 11:30 P.M.)

                                Sarah Shook is a country music singer and songwriter from North Carolina whose style “incorporates country-punk and twang, with shades of outlaw country”, according to Wikipedia. Shook will be performing with the band The Disarmers, a band made up of Jack Foster on drums, Blake Tallent on guitar, Andrew Lambie on bass, and Nick Larimore on pedal steel. Tickets to see Sarah Shook and the Disarmers cost $15.

                                BLAK 9EARL AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

                                  Blak 9earl is a soul singer from Macon who will be performing on this historic stage at Grant's Lounge on Friday night. Doors open at 8 p.m. the music starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $15 online or at the door.

                                  DJ UH-OH! AT JBA (10 P.M.)

                                    DJ Uh-oh will be spinning tunes late into the early morning at JBA on Friday night. DJ Uh-Oh is from Macon and was formerly the tour DJ for the band REHAB.

                                    ROBERT LEE COLEMAN AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 P.M. - 2 A.M.)

                                      Blues legend and guitarist Robert Lee Coleman will perform at The Hummingbird Stage & Taproom late Saturday night. Coleman began his musical career in 1964 when he joined up with Percy Sledge who many will be familiar with because of his singing of the song “When a Man Loves a Woman”. The Hummingbird will have a $5 cover at the door for this show.


                                      SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8

                                      SOUTHSIDE WORSHIP AT THE GEORGIA NATIONAL FAIRGROUNDS & AGRICENTER (7:30)

                                        Southside Worship is a Christian music band from Texas who will be performing at the Georgia National Fair this Sunday evening. General admission tickets to the Georgia National Fair allow attendees to see Southside Worship in concert for free.

                                        SEAN SOLO ON COLEMAN HILL FOR BRAGG JAM’S SECOND SUNDAY CONCERT SERIES (6 - 8 P.M.)

                                          Bragg Jam’s fall season of the Second Sunday concert series on Coleman Hill this Sunday with a performance from Sean Solo. This band is a music project of Macon’s Sean Williams, whose musical style is influenced by bands like The Beatles and Fleetwood Macon. Attendees are welcome to bring picnics, lawn chairs, and even their friendly and leashed dogs. Bragg Jam’s Second Sunday concerts are free and open to the public.
