WEATHER ALERT: North and Central Georgia Expecting Powerful Storm System Tonight and Tomorrow
The Macon-Bibb County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is warning Middle Georgia residents of potentially dangerous weather conditions tonight through Tuesday night.
A powerful storm system is forecast to impact north and central Georgia during the next few days. The storm system is expected to bring from 1 to 3 inches of rain to the area, which could lead to flooding according to the EMA.
Strong to severe thunderstorms are also being forecast. This storm system may bring with it very strong wind gusts as well as tornadoes, especially along and south of a line from Columbus to Athens, the EMA reports.
In addition, a Wind Advisory has been issued. Winds gusts up to 40 mph are expected to come through Middle Georgia tonight and tomorrow, according to the National Weather System.
Please be careful when traveling while this storm system is in our area. Also, make sure you have emergency supplies (including food, water, and battery operated lights), and take cover in the safest place you can, where there are the least amount of windows, if a tornado is in your area.
