Live Music Spotlight in Macon and Middle Georgia this Week

Many talented musicians will be performing this week in the heart of Georgia including the always delightful Headstrings Acoustic, the energetic rock band The Open Seas, and the enigmatic 3.Nigma. The following are just a few of the live music shows you can attend in Middle Georgia this week.


THURSDAY, JANUARY 25

HEADSTRINGS ACOUSTIC ON MAGNOLIA STREET (6 P.M.)

The band Headstrings Acoustic and other local musicians will be performing as part of Lights and Strings - Music on Macon Streets on Thursday night. The music will be the background for architectural tours of the stately homes in the Magnolia Street neighborhood.

DANIELLE NICOLE AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

Danielle Nicole is a blues/soul musician from Missouri who is also a talented bass player. Nicole and her band will be playing at Grant’s and tickets to see her perform cost $15 at the door or online.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 26

ROAD TRIP: HERO THE BAND, ADÁN BEAN, AND KODIE SHANE AT SOUNDS LIKE ATL AT THE HIGH MUSEUM OF ART (6 - 9 P.M.)

WABE’S concert series Sounds Like Atl takes place in the High Museum and features Hero the Band (experimental alternative rock/rhythm and blues), Adán Bean (poet/hip-hop), and Kodie Sane (rapper/singer/songwriter). Sonya Clark’s emotive art exhibit “We Are Each Other” will also be on display to view during the performances. Tickets to Sounds like Atl cost $30 for museum members and $40 for everyone else on the High’s website.

726 ACOUSTICS AT FOX CITY IN FORSYTH (7 - 10 P.M.)

726 Acoustics is a band made up of lead singer Hunter Rowland and guitarist Branson Parish and they will be playing country music at the restaurant and music venue Fox City Brewing Company this Friday. There is no cover charge for this show.

GAVIN ADCOCK AND SPECIAL GUEST LANDON SMITH AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 P.M.)

Gavin Adcock is a country music singer/songwriter from the Athens area. He also played for three seasons as a nose tackle on Georgia Southern University’s Eagles football team. Landon Smith is a pop musician from Colorado who will also be performing at this show. Tickets to this show are currently sold out online.

THE OLD SOULZ BAND AT 20’S PUB (9 P.M. - 2 A.M.)

The Old Soulz Band will be playing soul, classic rock, country, Motown, and dance music at 20’s Pub into the early morning on Motown. There is no cover charge for this show.

THE PRESCRIPTIONS WITH SPECKLED BIRD AND ELIJAH JOHNSTON (9 P.M.)

The Prescriptions band mixes “power-pop, indie rock, and timeless rock n roll” to create their own unique sound. Speckled Bird (from Florence, Alabama) and Elijah Johnston (a singer/songwriter from Athens) will also perform at this show. Tickets cost $10 on seetickets.us or at the door.

RUCKUS STATION AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 P.M.)

Ruckus Station will be playing heavy classic rock late at night at Billy’s Clubhouse. Billy’s never has a cover charge.

ADDED COLOR WITH BLUE AT JBA (10:30 P.M.)

Added Color is a rock band from Brooklyn whose music seeks to empower its listeners. Also playing will be Milledgeville’s Blue, a band who play “high energy [and] heavy emotion pop-punk”. Tickets to this show cost $10 at the door or online.  


SATURDAY, JANUARY 27

MACON AREA HABITAT JAM (5 - 11:45 P.M.)

This show will feature several local musicians playing different genres of music together to help raise money for a good cause. There is no cover charge but all donations will go towards the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity. This show will be family-friendly until 8 p.m. and then for those 21 years old and older until the end of the night.

ATLANTA RHYTHM SECTION AND MOUNT PILOT AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 P.M.)

Atlanta Rhythm Section is a Southern rock band that formed in 1970 and has been performing together since 1970. Mount Pilot is a Middle Georgia rock band that formed in 1992 and will also be performing at this show. Tickets to see Atlanta Rhythm Section and Mount Pilot play cost $40 online or at The Capitol Theatre’s box office.

THE BOZWELLZ AT MAIN ST. BAR IN PERRY (8 P.M.)

The Bozwellz is a talented duo whose music seeks to make its listeners feel better. Main St. Bar does not have a cover charge.                     

DJ CLARKAFTERDARK AT HOTEL FORTY FIVE (7 P.M.)

The talented ClarkAfterDark will be performing at the Hightales Rooftop Bar in Hotel Forty Five on Saturday. There is no cover charge for this show.

BAD EXPERIENCE CO. AT THE GRIFFIN OPERA HOUSE (8 P.M.)

Bad Co. Experience is a Bad Company tribute band. Bad Company’s most popular songs are “Bad Company” and “Can’t Get Enough”. Bad Co. Experience is made up of singer Paul Downey (lead singer for Headgames, a Foreigner Tribute band), guitarist Jim Withrow, drummer Chris Brake (both part of Grand Paradise, a Styx Tribute band), keyboardist/guitarist Don McBroom, and bassist Harry Wolle. Tickets to see Bad Experience Co. perform start at $27.75 online.

GROUND STRUM AT CASHMAN’S PUB (8 P.M.)

The band Ground Strum will be performing popular rock hits from the 90s at Cashman’s Pub this Saturday. There is no cover charge for this show.

RADIO CULT AT WILD WING CAFE IN MACON (9 P.M.)

Radio Cult is a rock and pop band from Atlanta who have toured in Los Angeles and even in the United Kingdom. They will be performing at Wild Wing Cafe in Macon, which does not have a cover charge but does have plenty of tasty drinks and food.

THE MACON SOUND AT PUB 96 IN BONAIRE (9 P.M.)

The Macon Sound describes itself as a party band that provides MC services and performs at happy events like weddings. Pub 96 does not have a cover charge.

THE OPEN SEAS AND SEWERMOUTH AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

The Open Seas is a Macon band whose music mixes hard rock, and meaningful and powerful lyrics. The talented members of the band are Wesley Cook on drums, Daniel Graves on guitar, Casey Meadows on bass, Shawn Williamson on synth, and of course singer Justin Cutway on vocals/guitar. The band Sewermouth (aka Shawn Williamson) will perform after The Open Seas with “analog synths” composed into surprising sounds. The doors open at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance online or at the door.

RILEY ANDERSON AND CARTER CROSS AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 P.M.)

Riley Anderson and special guest Carter Cross will take part in the first Josh Terry’s Honky Tonk Night Series concert of the year this Saturday. Anderson is from Leesburg and took part in the Gulf Coast Jam stage in the summer of 2023. Carter Cross will open for Anderson: Cross is a musician from Sylvester whose first single will be released in February. Tickets will be $10 at the door.

2 FINGER JESTER AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 P.M.)

2 Finger Jester will be playing at Billy’s Clubhouse late Saturday night. This band is based out of Warner Robins and play hard rock and classic rock hits and lots of 1980s “hair metal music. Billy’s Clubhouse does not have a cover charge.

3.NIGMA PRESENT THREE DRUNKEN DJS AT JBA (10 P.M.)

3.Nigma will be having a few (or more) drinks and then putting on a show at JBA this Saturday. JBA often charges a small cover at the door for their live music performances.


SUNDAY, JANUARY 28

FALL LINE RAMBLER AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (6 - 9 P.M.)

Fall Line Rambler is a rock band from Milledgeville. They will be performing at the restaurant/music venue Buffington’s, which does not have a cover charge.
