Fun Things to Do this Week in the Heart of Georgia

This week there will be free concerts and special events for artists, bikers, and storytellers. Storytellers Macon will present another free night of true stories on Tuesday at historic Grant's Lounge while Fall Line Brewing Co. will become a temporary wrestling ring for Thursday's Frothy Frenzy. The following are just a few of the fun adventures taking place in the heart of Georgia the week of March 13th through March 19th.


MONDAY, May 13

The Academy for Classical Education (ACE) Orchestra Spring Concert in Gryphon Hall (6:30 p.m.)

The ACE Orchestra will be performing its Orchestra Spring Concert this Monday evening. The concert will feature junior high and high school orchestra students performing the final concert of ACE’s school year. This event is free to attend.

TUESDAY, May 14

Bike Walk Macon’s Urban Confidence Adult Bike Class (6 p.m.)

Bike Walk Macon will present a free intermediate bicycling course for adults this Tuesday. Attendees will learn about bike safety, effective communication with other commuters, state and local laws, and more. This course is free and you can register online on eventbrite.com.

Storytellers Presents “Grabbing the Ring” at Grant’s Lounge (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.)

Storyteller’s Macon will present another evening of storytelling at Grant’s this Tuesday. The theme for the stories will be “Grabbing the Ring”, which will deal with “ambition, adventure, and triumph”. The featured storytellers will be Bibb County Clerk of Court Erica L. Woodford and Andrea Cooke, Development Director/Master Level Clinician at The Southern Center for Choice Theory. This open-mic event is free to attend and anyone can sign up to tell a true, 5-minute story in front of the friendly crowd at Grant’s by signing up online at this link.

WEDNESDAY, May 15

Flowing Florals Acrylic Painting Class at Artspace Macon (10 a.m.)

Participants in the Flowing Florals class will learn “a loose, painterly technique for painting florals” from a talented artist. You can purchase an 8 x 10 canvas for $30 or a 16 x 20 canvas for $45 on Artspace Macon’s website.

Entrepreneur’s Happy Hour at Just Tap’d (5 - 6:30 p.m.)

Startup Macon will host another Entrepreneur’s Happy Hour this Wednesday. This free event takes place every third Wednesday of each month and seeks to help entrepreneurs as they network with others in the Middle Georgia business community.

Best of Broadway Does: A Cabaret Concert at the Grand Opera House (7:30 p.m.)

The Best of Broadway Does will present some of the biggest hits from the series previous shows. Attendees can expect music from the 80s and 90s as well as punk, country, southern rock, and soul music. The show will also benefit the Linda Harriet Lane Fund.

THURSDAY, May 16

Singer Caitlyn Carroll at Hotel Forty Five’s Loom (6 - 8 p.m.)

Singer and piano player Caitlyn Carroll will be playing jazz, soft rock, blues, southern soul, and more at Hotel Forty Five’s restaurant, Loom, on Thursday evening.

Frothy Frenzy: A Wrestling Experience at Fall Line Brewing Co. (6:30 p.m.)

Fall Line Brewing Co. will turn into a wrestling match during Froth Frenzy. This wrestling event is presented by the Phoenix Wrestling Experience and the doors will open at 5 p.m. Tickets to Froth Frenzy start at $10 on eventbrite.com and proceeds will benefit Bike Walk Macon.

FRIDAY, May 17

CANCELLED: Perry Food Truck Friday in Downtown Perry (6 - 10 p.m.)

The theme for the Perry Food Truck Friday this week will be Island Friday. There are scheduled to be more than twenty food trucks and beverage vendors. Visit Perry will also present free family activities and attendees are invited to bring bag chairs and well-behaved and leashed dogs. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

Serenity Bash ’24 at Serenity Entertainment Complex (7 p.m. - 1 a.m.)

Serenity Entertainment Complex will be celebrating its second anniversary on Saturday. There will be live performances by Troy Dillard & The M.O.B.B., DJ AD, and more. Tickets start at $15 online at this link.

SATURDAY, May 18

Bikes & Blessings at Perkins Field in Warner Robins (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.)

This event from Visit Warner Robins and the City of Warner Robins will “celebrate the thrill of biking” on Saturday at Bikes & Blessings. There will be live music, activities for kids, food trucks, and more. Both bicyclists and motorcyclists are invited to take part in this event.

BOGO Bowling Luau Party at Rigby’s in Warner Robins (11 a.m.)

Rigby’s Entertainment Complex will host a Hawaiian-themed dog of buy one get one free bowling and pineapple pizza. This event will also celebrate the opening of Rigby’s Water World for the 2024 season. Bowlers who purchase one individual game of bowling for $12 will get another one free.

Macon Music Live presents “An Evening with OTIS at The Allman Brothers Band Museum (7 - 9 p.m.)

The Big House Museum will start its Summer Concert Series for the year with OTIS, a rock and roll band from Kentucky, on Saturday. There is no admission for this concert but donations to the museum are encouraged.

SUNDAY, May 19

ROAD TRIP: Atlanta Streets Alive in Atlanta (1 - 5 p.m.)

Peachtree Street will turn into a park in Downtown Atlanta at Atlanta Street Alive this Sunday. This free event invites the public to come out and “walk, bike, skate, dance, and play” on Peachtree Street three times this year. There will also be Atlanta Streets Alive events on Sunday, June 16th, and Sunday, July 28th.

stARTup Studios Spring Cleaning Sale (2 - 7 p.m.)

stARTup Studios will host a Spring Cleaning Sale this Sunday. The artworks being sold at this one-day event will all cost $20 and under. The Spring Cleaning Sale is free but registration is requested online at this link.
